Rename element does not affect new recorded test steps' description
Hi Team,

Renaming an element will change the corresponding existing test steps descriptions. However the new ones do not get affected as per this: http://screencast.com/t/SIHUbqDEjes

Hi Chris,

First let me explain the workflow here. This is about the Elements Explorer in Test Studio and the Recorder, which however does not "understand" anything about the recorded elements. Instead it uses an algorithm to generate the element names. So actions on the Elements Explorer mean nothing to the Recorder.

This request is more like extending the communication between Test Studio and the Recorder with some kind of mapping of element names the recorder should understand. And that should be implemented for all recording browsers Test Studio supports. Unfortunately it is neither cheap to implement not a common request we have considered for next product releases. Nevertheless I will forward your request to the PM team so that they consider it for future versions of the product.

I consider this pretty essential functionality. When will this be considered for development? The names that the DOM provides for dynamically generated content in my WPF app are pretty meaningless, which means that when reading the test steps they make very little sense, unless you manually amend EVERY test step to a friendly name!
