persistent results tab view
Having a persistent view of the "Results" tab.

At the moment whenever you navigate out of the "Results" tab and then come back to it, it will display the main default one with all the test list results instead of keeping the one that you were checking or working on.

I have not been using test studio since the recent release came out. But I definitely notice that the results are doing exactly the same as it previously did. Maybe the merge of solutions overwrote this fix from an internal build.

Please bring it back.

Telerik: actually after using option 3 from the suggestion, you did not get Out of Memory exception - which was the point. However the ammount of RAM needed for the results is huge, because the results are big. We have now implemented a fix addressing original issue, for not refreshing results every time you go to Results view and remember last opened result, which will spare the need to reload bug resutls every time (only first load will be time consuming) and consequtive work in results vew will be fast and view persisted. Hopefully this will ease the work a lot. The solution will be available in our next product release planned by mid February 2015.

So I tried option 3 on the KB, it actually made the situation worse.

I previously mentioned this issue on feedback item http://feedback.telerik.com/Project/161/Feedback/Details/135352-test-studio-performance-and-memory-usage.

But I did not try option 3 back then, I didn't think it was the same error message. I just tried it now. So I will see how it goes after some time.

Telerik: Thank you for the feedback and for the suggestions. We are indeed loading only the results for the current view - weekly by default, the rest of the results we don't load the details, only the resuls headers and once opened then we load the result details. In projects with many big results sometimes opening many results my lead to Out Of Memory exception and the error you are seing as an effect - in Test Studio log you can see if this is an OOM exception. If you are using 64 bit machine there is one approach that can help in most such OOM cases described in this article - http://docs.telerik.com/teststudio/knowledge-base/getting-out-of-memory-exception-errors. But I would recommend you submit a support ticket to figure out the problem with the error message when loading results, so that we follow the item in details.

That would also reduce this error message from happening.

Question for Telerik people,
When loading the Results, is test studio is loading all the results regardless to the fact that the initial view of the results defaults to the week of the last result?

I ask because i notice the results takes some time to load the result. A suggestion for improvement is to load the results with the most of a month span since the largest range to select is the month.

I feel that loading all the results optimizing the historical results while it should optimize the load time of the current range. I feel that this allow the focus to load what is currently needed thereby releasing some unnecessary memory usage.

I feel that if there is a need to view historical data, I select my desired range and it locates the results and loads it at that moment. Instead of loading it altogether making the results load time a minute or more.

If there are any users who don't mind that the result view always refreshes, an idea is provide a toggle option allow the view to always refresh.

Just some forward thinking for other users other than myself.
