Unable to select an option from an HTML drop-down menu under IE7 & 8

This issue is specific for the customer's application. The application is only supported by IE7 and IE8.

To reproduce:
Sample test and the exact steps to reproduce are provided in the internal bug description.

Those are not standard combo box but client JS controls, so in order for them to work they need wrappers/translators. Currently we just record the clicks but those actions are wrong.
