Allow adding custom headers to requests from the report viewers that use Reporting REST Service
Currently, the desktop viewers don't allow adding custom headers to their requests to the service.
In HTML5-based web viewers, this is possible through the AjaxPrefilter event.
The ability to add custom headers to the requests is not included in our short-term development schedule and was not planned for our 2026 Q2 release.
I can assure you that we recognize the importance of the feature, since the only way to obtain this functionality currently is to use ajaxPrefilter, which works only in HTML5-based report viewers. We have discussed the implementation internally and agreed that we'll use a unified approach for all the report viewers, which extends the task scope.
Although the planning phase for our next release has been completed, we will increase the priority of this feature request, keeping it among the top candidates for implementation after the 2026 Q2 release, which is due in May.
I hope this provides clarity regarding the expected timeline. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or if you need further clarification.

Ivan Hristov

I wanted to bring up the need to add a client certificate to the calls to the REST reporting service. We had a separate support ticket on this topic as well, where I also mentioned the possibility of allowing a DelegatingHandler or HttpMessageHandler to be passed into the RestServiceConnectionInfo. One of the duplicate items under this ticket also mentioned the handlers as a potential solution.
Just wanted to make sure that’s been raised here too.

Might not be exactly the same issue, but the WPF ReportViewer doesn't set the 'Accept-Language' header on the requests to the Reporting REST Service or WebServiceDataSource based on the CurrentUICulture.
If this header was added, then it would provide support for the AspNetCore app.UseRequestLocalization() middleware.

Would be useful for proxy authentication headers.
