Option for text behaviour when text is too long too long to fit in the textbox (ellipsis, clipping)

At the moment, a whole words are removed from text until it becomes short enough to fit in the text box, and this is the only available behaviour.

There should be an option to put ellipsis or clip the text to the textbox width instead (like CSS text-overflow "ellipsis" and "clip").

There's also an older discussion here:

This is absolutely needed functionality. It is available as CSS styles and should be available in reports. It should be prioritized ASAP.

There are several questions related to this that suggest the text be manually truncated within each textbox. This is absolutely not feasible with variable spacing fonts and reports that contain any significant number of textboxes.

This feature would be extremely useful.  Hopefully it can be implemented soon.
