Designer Locale

Telerik,

This is a feature request to allow a designer to set the locale at preview time.

We work on reports that are deployed and executed in many regions and locales around the world.

We cannot have our report designers switch the locale each time they need to test or validate a report, it would become too cumbersome.

Would you be able to add an option (default: Current locale) to the "Preview" screen in the designer that allows the report designer to set the locale to Preview the report as.

Hi Shawn,

Indeed, with our recent changes, some culture properties, for example, the 'CurrencyNegativePattern', are resolved based on the machine's local settings instead of the default globalization settings of the current culture, which requires changing the computer settings to test with a different locale - Culture Dependant Properties.

The requirement will be a helpful feature when designing reports for different cultures/locales. We will consider it for the upcoming releases based on our criteria for prioritization.

I never realized that you had asked a question about this.

This issue, if you will, has come up again today.

Anyway, we are using the Standalone Designer.

We support rendering reports for other locales (a lot of them), so it would be very nice to be able to see the designer render it appropriately without having to have the user switch languages on the computer.

Hello Shawn,

Thank you for this request.

Can you specify which designer do you use?

In the Standalone Report Designer, we may introduce a dedicated control in the Preview toolbar for selecting the locales. For example a combo box with all the cultures.

In the Web Report Designer, we use the Html5 Report Viewer for preview. We may consider introducing a similar control for the viewer.
