PdfProcessing: Add support for XFA fields

RadPdfProcessing currently supports interactive forms whose data is defined directly in the document. Add support for interactive forms based on the Adobe XML Forms Architecture (XFA). The entry is defined inside the interactive forms dictionary and refers to an XML stream containing the information of the form. More information is available on page 722 from Pdf Reference, version 1.7.

Hello, Aleksandr,

I have opened a private support ticket on your behalf where we can further discuss the XFA functionality that is planned for the Q1 2025 release. You can find it in your Telerik account. Please see ticket ID 1675278.

Hi, Aleksandr,

Since the XFA forms are no longer part of PDF 2.0 (ISO 32000-2), we are changing our plans and declining this item for creating and manipulating XFA forms, but we will provide import-export support to avoid losing existing XFA content: PdfProcessing: Add support for XFA fields import-export.

However, this feature is expected to provide only the functionality for preserving any already existing XFA forms in a document when importin/exporting. The feature will be included in Q1 2025 which is officially scheduled for the first half of February.

Off topic, RadPdfProcessing still offers the interactive forms feature (also known as AcroForm). It allows you to create PDF files containing textboxes, buttons, listboxes and other interactive controls enabling the PDF file user to interactively fill some data in the PDF document and/or digitally sign the filled document.

I hope you find this information helpful. Please, let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with.

Hi, Aleksandr,

The public feedback portal allows us to be better aware of the needs of our customers by reviewing all requests and measuring their popularity. Our roadmap and priorities depend largely on the business value and customers' demand for specific features, and we take into account the most popular requests when planning our future development efforts.

Currently, this item is not planned for our next release.  I would encourage you to cast your vote for the item in order to increase its priority. The more votes an item gathers, the higher its priority becomes.

On the other hand, I would like to present another option that may be relevant and applicable to your needs - our Feature Acceleration program. It allows a customer to negotiate certain components or functionality to be implemented on demand or sooner than our roadmap implies. Feature acceleration fits well in scenarios where a feature or enhancement is important for an application's success, but it is not planned to be available at the time of the application's completion. If you are interested in pursuing this option, I would recommend you to submit a support ticket from your Telerik account and discuss further the precise case there.
