I made the document in Microsoft® Word for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2202 Build 16.0.14931.20858) 64-bit

I used Insert>Table to create the various tables.

After highlighting\selecting the Cells Right Click - Table Properties > Borders and Shading

Then just set the borders I wanted visible to a thickness and color and the ones I didn't want visible to None.

I was having enough problems that I may have tried a "Save As" "Strict Open XML Document (*.docx) on the version I attached.

Hi Kurt,

I am not sure how these borders are set and how you are creating the document. Can you specify how you have generated the document?

In the document XML these borders are explicitly set to none in several places:

<w:tblBorders>
	<w:top w:val="none" w:sz="0" w:space="0" w:color="auto"/>
	<w:start w:val="none" w:sz="0" w:space="0" w:color="auto"/>
	<w:bottom w:val="none" w:sz="0" w:space="0" w:color="auto"/>
	<w:end w:val="none" w:sz="0" w:space="0" w:color="auto"/>
	<w:insideH w:val="single" w:sz="8" w:space="0" w:color="000000" w:themeColor="text1"/>
	<w:insideV w:val="none" w:sz="0" w:space="0" w:color="auto"/>
</w:tblBorders>

<w:tcBorders>
	<w:top w:val="single" w:sz="8" w:space="0" w:color="000000" w:themeColor="text1"/>
	<w:start w:val="nil"/>
	<w:bottom w:val="nil"/>
</w:tcBorders>

In the OpenXML specification, these borders are marked as Table Leading Edge Border and Table Trailing Edge Border.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dimitar

I'm not complaining, trying not to be nuisance, stuff happens. Love your products, support and developer advocates. I'm just trying to understand it so maybe I can re-work the document to get around it in the meantime.

Is it because I'm making some borders on tables visible and others not?

Thanks,

Kurt (RocketMan2112 twitch)

Hi Kurt,

This is not the common case and the usual borders (top, left, right, bottom) are supported. This was recently reported. Unfortunately, I cannot provide a timeframe for this fix.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience this is causing you.

Dimitar
