Telerik Viewer cannot handle "german umlaute"

Dear Team,

when I create a pdf with your components (RadFixedDocument, RadFixedPage, FixedContentEditor) I cannot add a "german umlaut" in that report because then it cannot be viewed in your own pdfviewer- control (the exception is: Error loading document: Position is out of range).

I tried to solve this in "creating/ loading" arial.ttf as external font (even this is weird as idea), but this also did not work.

What is your solution for that?

I bought the Telerik components basically for PDF processing, this simply needs to work...

Many thanks for an urgent update on that!

Best regards

Tobias

Hello Tobias,

I have changed the item status to declined since there is no response for quite some time now.

Hi Tobias,

Martin is out of this office today so I will be assisting you with this.

I have tried to reproduce the observed behavior on my side, but the file generated with x86 is successfully opened with an x64 application. I am using the same application for this. I have recorded a small video that shows what I am doing. Could please check it and let me know what I am missing?

I am looking forward to your reply.

Dimitar

Dear Martin,

thank you for your reply. figured out the following (after I have seen that your application was x86).

  • When you export a PDF document with your application (in x86 mode) and then load it (with loadDocument(<pdffilename>) this works.
  • But when you try to open the PDF document saved with the x86 application in a x64 application (using loaddocument), this fails with this "position out of range. A file saved in the x64 version can be opened in this application...

There seems to be some issues in the export of pdf files between x86 and x64...

Maybe this helps to fix that issue, for me I could live with that so far as I just need to align the different compilation modi...

Best regards

Tobias

Hello Tobias,

Thank you for the feedback. I tried to reproduce the described behavior but on my end, it works as expected:

I created a sample project (you can find it attached) demonstrating what exactly I am testing. Maybe I am missing something in the setup, so please, feel free to modify it in a way closer to your scenario.

Regards,
Martin
