RadGrid is nice to bind data queries to, which allow users to export data. However, some enterprise environments employ users that have existing data connected spreadsheets that need to be periodically (manually) refreshed. Aside from separate efforts to change the business process, having a library to assist in automating data refreshes from existing processes may have a place. Such a feature would need to have relevant security considerations handled by the developer, potentially including things like updating/auditing a connection string to the data set, or not running the query directly from the excel sheet in case it is changed , but updating the query definition. Updates to the data query however, could allow template automation and parameterization - potentially allowing separation from Business Analysts to design the excel query, and Developers , to review and update the excel automation. A common use case would be to update a data connected sheet that utilizes a GetDate() function for prior day, run , and export.
