How to start the Sass theme builder with the classic-silver.css theme?

Hi,

I would like to build a Sass theme using the Telerik Sass theme builder. My theme should look like the classic-silver.css theme (like provided at href="https://kendo.cdn.telerik.com/themes/6.2.0/classic/classic-silver.css) with a few minor changes.

Is it possible to load the classic-silver.css theme into the Telerik Sass theme builder in order to then modify it?

If yes, please give me instructions how to do that.

Hello Manu,

First of all, please accept my apologies for misleading you and not being clear enough in my previous reply.

You are correct that Kendo Classic is an SCSS-based theme of the old deprecated Less themes. Unfortunately, the theme and its swatches (color variations) are not available within the ThemeBuilder. If you want I can directly convert this ticket to an official public feature request, so the community can vote for it. You can also log it manually here.

As a workaround, I can suggest you create a new project based on the Kendo Default theme in the ThemeBuilder and apply the modifications there.

Now I am confused, in the Telerik documentation the classic-silver theme is listed as a Sass theme and available at

Could you please explain?

Hi Manu,

ThemeBuilder supports Sass (Default, Material, Bootstrap) and CSS-based (Fluent) Kendo Themes. The Kendo Classic theme is a Less based theme and is not available in the ThemeBuilder application. I'm not sure if it will do the trick for you, but you can base your project on one of the mentioned themes and modify the variables, and/or apply advanced customizations to achieve the desired result.
