Support Azure deployment
We use the Kendo MVC controls in our website that is hosted on Microsoft Azure. We would like to do reporting but cannot with the Telerik reporting functionality - as far as I am aware. Cloud based websites are increasing in number....

Hi Ramon,

Thank you for your feedback.

We perfectly understand the business needs behind this requirement, but distributing the ReportServer as an Azure-compliant app is not in our immediate plans. Migrating to such architecture will require significant effort, mostly because the Windows Services (like our ServiceAgent) are not supported on Azure App Services, where the Background WebJobs should be used. Also, the Azure App Services are known to have problems with the GDI+ calls we use to render the reports so we cannot guarantee flawless work with all App Service plans. Currently our recommendation is to use Azure VM to host the Report Server application.

Still, this is valid and great feature request and I changed its status to Unplanned which means that it is approved.

Hi,

I would like to able to install Telerik Reporting Server as an App Service on Azure. Now we have to install it on a VM hosted on Azure. But VMs need maintenance, OS updates, antivirus etc. As we are running many app services, without practically no maintenance needed from our DevOps team, the Telerik Reporting Server is the odd ball in our IT landscape.

And unfortunately after each update of Telerik it self, bindings to SSL certificates are lost and we need to do some manual steps in IIS on the VM.

Changed the title to a more descriptive one. Currently, Report Server does not support multi-instance deployment. This is in our plans. Please like if you need this feature implemented sooner than later. On the other hand, the embedded reporting can be deployed in Azure web application.

Hi,

Can you elaborate on what Telerik Reporting functionality you are talking about and having issues with? What is not working for you when deployed on Azure?

Any additional information you can provide on your use case can help us get to the source of the problem and find a solution for you.

Meanwhile we will be working on preparing a step by step instructions on how to deploy Telerik Report Server on Azure, so stay tuned.

Best,
Iana Tsolova
