Telerik UI for ASP.NET MVC version for custom datasource in the Read method of Transport does not support the method Data(string handler) in order to send additional parameters.

Kendo UI version supports this.

When using QueryableExtensions.ToDataSourceResult() from Telerik MVC, SQL following gets produced:

When we filter manually in code with linq, e. g.

..  table.Where(e => e.T_EquiID == 234234) ...

the linq provider produces a parameterized query as follows:

AND (@p__linq__0 = [Extent1].[T_EquiID])...

When using a parameterized query, Sql Server can reuse the execution plan much better saving compile time, which is in our case sometimes a big issue.

Please tell us, why can QueryExtensions do produce parameterized queries.

This request feature is tied to ticket #1388825. Refer to that ticket for the illustration of the problem I am referring to. 

Given two splitter windows, all I require is to populate one splitter window with some data related to the other splitter window.

In my case, one Telerik splitter window has a simple 3-level Telerik tree control. When the 3rd level is clicked on, I want the other Telerik splitter window containing a Telerik grid to display details of what was clicked on. This requires an AJAX call to avoid having to reload the tree control.

However, while working with Support, there seems to be a very high degree of rocket science and uncertainty involved with implementing this scenario. 

I would have thought with great certainty that the functionality I need would be clearly documented somewhere in the Telerik doc database. I am still amazed that I might the first person who has this problem.

So, this feature request is to essentially provide very clear and competent documentation on the design pattern one needs to implement AJAX calls which pass data between two Telerik controls. At the very least, it would document the design pattern for the scenario I described above.

Maybe this cannot be done in the 21st Century yet. I don't know what is involved. I'm just a backend developer who purchased a Telerik license so I would not have to spend the rest of my life trying to learn Javascript.

Please add support for the following:

1. Out of the box support for ComboBox grid column which supports nullable values. Currently you have to set a default value for a column which utilizes an editor template using a combobox, otherwise changes to that combox are not captured. The example provided here,https://www.telerik.com/support/code-library/binding-nullable-field-to-dropdownlist-editor-in-grid, works, however, once a change is made the combobox text is set to the value which renders the control ambiguous to the end user.

2.Similarly, there is an issue that occurs when using Server Filtering for comboboxes where the Id is returned but then the combo box text is set to the ID.

I really appreciate the Grid and Combobox features and use them in all of my projects, but these two issues have cost me hours and countless headaches trying to come up with workarounds for things that should work out of the box.

have an option on the grids where it does not defualt to the  date/local time. Users are asking for the same time to display across time zones.
I use the workaround but we still have issues with it.

Please consider implementing to have an option in the MultiSelect control to allow duplicate values.

The AutoComplete control can work with duplicates but only with text values and work with string value with a separator(s) defined. 

The existing solution was built in 2009 using .Net 3.5 web forms framework (List View), ASP.Net Ajax (Accordion) and JQuery (validation). 

The web page accomplishes the following key functional requirements –

a.	Ability to group products – The groups are dynamically extracted from the same datasource that is providing the product list.  Using ASP.Net Ajax we were able to provide the expand / collapse visual effect.

b.	Ability to enter order quantities very quickly -  a lot of stores place orders at the last minute  (5-10 minutes before order deadline) for valid reasons.  The web page readily provides a text box for quick entry.  On a desktop, the user can traverse the rows within the group using the tab key.   The web page typically contains 150 –  200 products for entry.  

Having to click on Edit/Update/Cancel dramatically increases the number of clicks / touch / swipe.  Besides, it creates a real estate issue on smaller form factors.  

c.	Real time validation – using JQuery we were able to validate the row as and when the quantity was entered.  Any error would show below the row in question.  The error would continue to show until the quantity was revised.  The error however, will not stop the user from entering quantities on other rows.  This approach lets the user review any errors in the end.

ToDataSourceResult is very very slow on Large datasets - getting the Total Count is the issue, have an option to omit the total count or provide a way to inject the total count with some more efficient code.

I am using kendo chart with dynamic series with dynamic legend name.If i want to click on one legend item its getting hidden.but if i am going to a another page it is not hidden again it is refreshed .
I want to store these legend items throughout all the pages as hidden.Please send me a solution to achieve this kind of scenario

If you change the dataSource to a grid (for example by changing the filter conditions) so that less data is returned, you will not be warned if the current page is no longer valid. No error is reported and no data is returned and you won't have a clue why.

Try this to replicate:

Make a paged grid plus a couple of datepickers to filter the grid data by date range. Add a button to make the new filter dates effective.

Write a new MVC controller method to populate the data, using the ToDataSourceResult extension method e.g. "return Json(obj.ToDataSourceResult(request));" to return data.

Open a sizeable dataset in the grid (many pages) and go to the last page.

Change the filter conditions to be much more restrictive. Click the button to make them effective.

Watch as the grid displays no data, the code reports no error and stepping into your controller confirms that the method is returning data.

Confusing huh? An error or warning would make this much clearer.

Please support VB in your MVC Scaffolding

I think it would be more useful to scroll to the first scheduled event on the day view rather than show an empty morning if there are only scheduled events in the afternoon. The month view does not show times, so when a day view is selected the user expects to see their meetings rather than having to scroll down to the first event. 

With the current version available from the DLL it will be possible to simplify bundling and include of CSS and JS files. I currently do something along the lines of

And similarly in the views. Getting the version directly from the DLL without hacking around in Assembly.GetName.Version and string manipulation will make this clearer. I'd also suggest you update the documentation to reflect this pattern.

As its a new method/getter, it is not a breaking change.
