Bug report

When the horizontal scroll of the grid is shown and is configured for RTL, the resize handle is mispositioned.

Reproduction of the problem

1. Make the grid scrollable and set explicit widths to all columns.

2. Make the grid RTL.

3. Introduce multi-column headers.

4. Notice that the columns cannot be resized due to the disposition of the handler.

5. Dojo for replication:

https://dojo.telerik.com/IZInOVUd

6. Notice that whenever the horizontal scroll is not present, the resize handle is positioned correctly.

Environment

* **Kendo UI version:** 2019.3.1023
* **jQuery version:** 1.12.4
* **Browser:** [all]

Hi Guys,

I have just tripped over a problem in the 2020 R1 release whereby the sort indicator is not being shown when autoBind is set to false.

To illustrate the problem run the following dojo

    https://dojo.telerik.com/eMELiMut

which will show a sort indicator on the 'Ship Country' column.

Now if you uncomment 'autoBind:true' and 'dataSource.read();' and re-run you will see that although the data is being sorted correctly the 'Ship Country' column is missing the indicator.

Regards
Alan

Reproduction of the problem

  1. In the SASS Theme builder, create а theme based on the Default theme
  2. Download it and load it on a page with a Grid

Current behavior

On desktop there is a page number duplication: screenshot.
On mobile the page numbers disappear: screenshot

Expected/desired behavior

The pager should look like in the Default theme.

Bug report

If the datasource of a Grid with "autoBind: false" configuration is sorted using the below code, the data sorting in the component is correct but no sorting arrows appear in the headers of the sorted columns.

var grid = $("#grid").data("kendoGrid");
var sort = [{field: "Freight", dir: "desc"}, {field: "OrderDate", dir: "asc"}];
grid.setOptions({ dataSource: {sort: sort }});
grid.dataSource.read();

  • This is a regression introduced in version 2020.1.114

Reproduction of the problem

  1. Open this Dojo example and run it
  2. See the headers of the "Freight" and "Order Date" columns

Current behavior

The sorting arrows are missing for both the "Freight" and "Order Date" columns
image

Expected/desired behavior

The arrows should appear as shown in the image below. The correct behavior can be observed in this Dojo example

When endless scrolling and grouping is enabled on the KendoUI grid, collapsing large groups causes the grid to load ALL the hidden detail rows into the DOM.

This takes a very long time for the grid to do, as well it violates the whole point of a paging system. (ie I only want you to load X records at a time). Afterwards the performance of entire website (including the grid) will be very poor since potentially thousands of rows have been loaded into the grid and then immediately hidden. Additionally, these rows do not add any value to the user, since they are all hidden anyways.

When a category is collapsed, the grid should NOT add any new rows for that category to the DOM.

I have included a sample that demonstrates the performance issues.

Bug report

The following article shows how to set the cells font size to 30: https://docs.telerik.com/kendo-ui/knowledge-base/grid-excel-export-custom-font. Up to R1 2019 the font size was properly exported. Since R1 2019 the font size in the generated Excel file has a wrong value.

Reproduction of the problem

  1. Export the Grid
  2. Open the generated Excel file.

Current behavior

Font size is 22.5

Expected/desired behavior

Font size is 30

Environment

  • Kendo UI version: 2020.1.406
  • jQuery version: x.y

Hi,

the adaptive rendering in the grid control is not working in the current version(2019.3.1023).

To reproduce go to https://docs.telerik.com/kendo-ui/controls/data-management/grid/appearance/adaptive#configuring-panes-on-mobile --> Open in Dojo --> Run and the 2 rows are not displaying. If you switch to version, choose Library dropdown, 2018.3.1017 or up to 2019.1.220 the 2 rows are ok.

Similar behaviour is inspected to the scheduler control agenda view. To reproduce go to https://docs.telerik.com/kendo-ui/controls/scheduling/scheduler/adaptive-rendering#configuring-panes-on-mobile --> Open in Dojo --> Run --> change view from week to Agenda and the 2 events are not shown. If you switch to version, choose Library dropdown, 2018.3.1017 or up to 2019.1.220 the 2 events are ok.

Tried in chrome, safari and mobile phones.

thanks,

Kostas Vlachakis

Disclaimer: I'm running an older version of Kendo UI for jQuery, so this may have been fixed. I'd like confirmation if so before updating.

Kendo version: 2017.1.118.545

I am creating a grid from a table data source rather than an endpoint call. Other pages that use endpoints to populate the datasource export Excel with no problems.

Example HTML:

<table class="table table-responsive" id="tblReportSummary">
<colgroup>
<col />
<col />
<col />
<col />
<col />
</colgroup>
<thead>
<tr>
<th data-field="date">Date</th>
<th data-field="totalForStatus">Count</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
@foreach (var item in ViewBag.ReportDataSummary as IEnumerable<UtilizationListViewModel>)
{
<tr>
<td>@item.Date</td>
<td>@item.TotalForStatus</td>
</tr>
}
</tbody>
</table>

The jQuery is as follows:

             $("#tblReportSummary").kendoGrid({
                sortable: true,
                toolbar: ["excel"],
                excel: {
                    allPages: true,
                    fileName: "Utilization Data Export.xlsx"
                },
                pageable: {
                    pageSize: 20,
                    pageSizes: [20, 50, 100]
                }
            });

When I click Export, all I get is an empty Excel file.

Why isn't the data there, please?

The pager navigation buttons shift position when going from page 10 to page 11 (see paging actual image), because the pager now has to accommodate for the dots at the left side. This is annoying when going through the pages. If the pager would already leave some space for the dots when on page 1 to 10 (see paging desired image), the buttons would be fixed, making the navigation better to use.

the Kendo grid does't accept cell value changes when using android mobile phone with the Chrome browser. You can test it on the telerik demo https:demos.telerik.com/aspnet-mvc/grid/editing.

for example change the value of the Unit Price and go to the other cell. you will see that the value will become the original value.

just by touching some where outside the border of the grid the value will change.

I have a list of entities with a large set of fields, but I don't want to load and display all of them in the grid. Entities have also a couple of complex properties which are displayed via checkbox lists.

Though, I want them to appear when editing a single entity.

For now, I'm using custom "create" and "edit" pages, but it would be great to have an "url" option for popup editing. This url would return some html (MVC partial view in my case) which would be rendered in the popup window.

Having custom sorting on the grid is really handy.
But with its current implementation, we are not capable of setting this sorting logic on load.

I opened a support ticket for this issue (see below), and now I'm considering extending this behaviour myself, if I can manage the time that is.

http://www.telerik.com/account/support-tickets/view-ticket.aspx?threadid=931220

However, it would be so much better if this was supported out of the box

When performing Edit on a real-time grid, hide edit button to prevent simultaneous editing and data overwrite.

There was a similar solution previous to signalR integration, http://www.telerik.com/forums/using-kendoui-grid-with-signalr#-3DZMT4HHE-rOWdEf_1mgQ

But with SignalR enabled grid, this could all be built-in.

Starting from a Grid's "endless scrolling demo" on: https://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/grid/endless-scrolling-remote

Edit grid configuration to set smaller page size. All items of the first page need to be visible on the screen plus some free space. A grid height needs to be set. See this DOJO: https://dojo.telerik.com/amiNohIx

The vertical scroll bar is disabled and there is no way to get/see next pages of data.

Interesting is that use of the horizontal scrollbar (if one is available) starts some background operation (looks as data page load) and then the vertical scrollbar is OK.

The groupHeaderTemplate property for a column can only be set if initializing a grid and defining columns via javascript.

The following post describes the issue and the area that requires modification (Grid._columns):

Right now if you want to only show the editor for a column (eg bool field) you have to override the client template among other things and if you want to do it for many fields it can take a lot of code to accomplish. It would be nice if there were a way to just specify for kendo to only show the editor for the field.

The grid popup editor is great but when you have a large number of fields to edit the height of the popup window becomes impractical.

What would work much better would be to split the single column of fields into two or more columns making the window wider but shorter and ultimately more manageable.

Maybe the popup could have a "columns" configuration option to allow for this type of functionality.

Please fix the keyboard shortcuts, so they exclude shortcut combination (Ctrl+Return). For example inside the Kendo Grid there is a Shortcut with Return Key (which start the edit mode), but whenever the user do Ctrl+Return the same operation will be triggered.In my point of view the Shortcut should only happen when the user only click the Return Key, any other Keycombination should be a totally different Shortcut.

To me these are all glaring bugs, especially for those who like to use their keyboard instead of their mouse to fill out forms.

1. Mouse scrolling drop downs/comboboxes scrolls the page when it hits the top/bottom.
2. Enter key opens/closes subgrid instead of putting cell into/out of edit mode.
3. Backspace in drop downs causes browser to go back to the previous page.
4. Comboboxes, when filtering, should always "select" the highlighted item when tab is pressed.(the little auto-complete hack/setting doesn't cut it)
5. There is no easy keyboard way to open drop downs and date pickers in the grid.
6. Tabbing to a button cell and hitting Enter does not click the button.
