Downloaded Fiddler installation flagged as Malicious

Hi Team,

We wanted to use Fiddler Classic and when we send for Security Scanning, its flagged as Malicious. From your end, do you have confirmation like it would be false positive. Attached the screenshot where it was flagged as Malicious.

Hey Prasanna,

 

We have released a newer version of Fiddler Classic, which has a smaller size of 4524 KB and is digitally signed on the 27th of March, 2024 (which you can check through the properties of the executable file> Digital Signatures tab as shown in the attached screenshot). The latest version has one known false-positive (from the VBA tool), which we are currently resolving with the VBA team.

Thanks team, its the FiddlerSetup.exe file downloaded from https://www.telerik.com/download/fiddler zipped to FiddlerSetup.zip to avoid *.exe block if any. File downloaded by 22-Mar-2024. 

Could we conclude, fFrom your end, its safe to assume that its false positive.

Hello Prasanna,

 

Indeed, several anti-virus tools issued false positives. We are working with them and have already removed the false positives from most tools except for VBA (in progress).

However, we noticed that in your screenshot, you provided an archive called FiddlerSetup.zip (If possible, please provide more information regarding how you have obtained the scanned file), which does not correspond to the name of the file we are officially distributing from our official download page. Please ensure that you are downloading and using the latest version of Fiddler Classic from the following link:

https://www.telerik.com/download/fiddler
