Create a shortcut to launch viewer on Fiddler Classic install

Please consider installing a desktop shortcut or start menu shortcut to launch Fiddler viewer (instead of fiddler to listen and capture traffic). This will help folk that want to review fiddler traces from others without launching Fiddler and interfering with locally running apps that misbehave due to Fiddler intercepting traffic by default on launch.

i realize I can create my own shortcut using "fiddler.exe -viewer". But I want to write troubleshooting guides to engineers that are new to both the technology they are learning and Fiddler/HTTP traffic analysis in general. Having two shortcuts created will make it easier to write instructions where we can advise folk to just launch shortcut to viewer to import a session or previously made fiddler saz file from someone else.

Thanks!

@Eric yes I do use the open in viewer option. But my team doesn't deal exclusively with .saz fles. They get HAR files from Dev tool based troubleshooting sessions (when fiddler is deemed too invasive or they lack admin rights to install TLS interception certs) and then need to import it to view it better in Fiddler.

I too prefer to quickly type fiddler or the first few characters in Windows 10 search and hit enter on the matching hit. Instead I've opted to create my own shortcut on the start menu and launch it as and when applicable.

This is why I think having a shortcut (regardless of whether on desktop or start menu) would be useful.

For what it's worth, you can right-click on a SAZ file and choose "Open in Viewer".

Cluttering up the viewer's Start Menu with an additional shortcut seems more likely to be a source of annoyance. Telerik /could/ add a "Open Viewer Mode" option to the main Fiddler shortcut so that right-clicking it offered that option too.

Hi Matheesha,

Thank you for the logged feature request! The team will discuss it in the next planning, and we will update the status once we decide if this feature will be implemented for a future release.
