License file is not updated after buying a license and the Control Panel does not clarify which license is currently in use

The "Proceed" button failed to remove the trial license file that was installed before.  The Control Panel simply returned without indicating which license was in effect. 

Worse still, it didn't replace a trial license with a paid license.  Does it assume that the trial email would be the same as the paid email?

The UI should better reflect what changes were done, and which license is in use.

Thank you for taking the time to share this with us.

Currently, there is a logic that downloads the license file once every 2 weeks to "refresh" the license status. The reasoning behind this is that clients start by trialing the products to determine whether they fit their use case, and this usually takes time. In case the client buys a license before the file is re-downloaded they can always initiate the download manually. 

I agree, however, that it is not clear which license file is used at the moment, and clients are not aware that they need to perform any actions. I have logged an internal item and am hopeful that we will be able to plan it for one of the next releases. You can follow the status in this feedback item.
