Telerik Reporting cannot update to 2024 Q4 because Telerik Reporting R1 2023 cannot be found

I have recreated the folder and pasted Telerik.Reporting.dll into the C:\Program Files (x86)\Progress\Telerik Reporting R1 2023\bin folder, but the upgrade wizard keeps throwing the above error. None of my reports can go into design mode, so I'm stuck between versions.

It's ok I figured it out, when I installed the latest version it uninstalled the previous version. But I couldn't use the latest version as I am still using legacy reports in ReportViewer, so I replaced the Telerik.Reporting.dll in my bin folder with the old version, but there were still references to the old installation folder.

I managed to download the old version again and install to get everything sorted. I didn't realise that was possible. Thanks.

Hello Damien,

It seems that for some reason the R1 2023 version of Telerik Reporting Tools remained installed in Visual Studio after upgrading to the 2024 Q4 version.

Please follow these steps to uninstall the R1 2023 Telerik Reporting Tools from Visual Studio (assuming you are using VS 2022):

  1. In Visual Studio menu open Extensions->Manage Extensions...
  2. In the Extension Manager tab that opens select the Installed tab
  3. In the list of installed extensions find Telerik Reporting Tools
  4. Click on Telerik Reporting Tools three dots button in the lower right corner and select Uninstall -
  5. Close all Visual Studio instances and finish the VSIX installer wizard which will start to uninstall the extension
  6. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\Professional\Common7\IDE\Extensions\Telerik"
  7. If the folder contains file ReportingVS2022Toolbox.17.0.23.118.pkgdef delete it
  8. Run repair of the 2024 Q4 installation to atempt to install the new version of Telerik Reporting Tools

Please try this and let us know if this helps.

Momchil
