If elements of a WPF application contain AutomationID's Test Studio will record them in the Find Expression. When you playback the test, it appears the AutomationID's are not detected. The step will fail with "element not found". If you study the Visual Tree, the element is present but the AutomationID that is supposed to be there (and actually is in the application) is not shown.

The actions against the drop down in a popup are not recorded. Here is a sample video demonstration:

Detailed repro steps provided in the internal description. This is working fine with Chrome. Another work-around is to add the drop down element manually in IE and add necessary steps via the Step Suggestions.

Currently we're missing a Translator for Kendo DatePicker. A Kendo DatePicker is a KendoInput and KendoCalendar combined and we have translators for both of those things. But the DatePicker appears to have some special properties that make it very hard to automate without a Translator.

Steps to repo:
1) Create a Test and start the Recorder
2) Record NavigateTo("http://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/datepicker/rangeselection")
3) Record "Open Kendo DatePicker"
4) Record selecting any date

Expected: the test passes on playback flawlessly
Actually: the KendoCalendar control has a dynamic ID. Because of this the test will fail on playback. It's very difficult to get this test working at all without using a coded solution. It gives customers a bad impression when it's difficult to automate our own controls.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Open IE 8

2) Navigate to http://www.thinkbroadband.com/download.html

3) Click on one of the download links

4) Test Studio records "Handle 'Generic' dialog." test step

During test execution this step fails.
In order test to pass, you need to add manually "Handle 'Download' dialog." test step.

Test Studio removes elevated trust privileges from an OOB application when connected to the application for recording. Please refer to the screenshot attached from the local repro.

The sample project is attached. The ArtOfTest.SLExtension.dll is included in the SL application.

Test Studio records successfully the typing step in a WPF application that uses RadControls version 2013.3.1016.45.

When you try to execute the test, it fails with exception that the element is not located.

During a further examination, we can see that Test Studio has recorded a TextBox element with a find logic that includes AutomationId. The problem comes from the fact that the GridView gives AutomationId to the TextBox element only after you type at least one character inside this TextBox element. Before the typing, this element doesn't have AutomationId and for that reason Test Studio is not able to locate it.

Sample test and WPF application are attached in the internal description.

Currently you can record Silverlight applications only in IE browser or Out-of-Browser. It would be good if you can record also in Firefox, Chrome and Safari browsers.

Currently a single test can be bound to only one data source (a single file, a single sheet, etc.). For larger tests that include subtests and passing data to the subtests, the single spreadsheet becomes nearly unmanageablylarge. It would be useful in cases like this to be able to bind the test to multiple data sources (e.g. multple sheets within the same Excel file). Then the various subtests can reference data in sheet 2, 3, 4, etc. while the parent test could use data from sheet 1. This would significantly simplify setting up the data being feed into the main parent test.

The test contains a navigation step and a loop with 4 simple steps. Hundred megabytes are taken with each iteration against the customer application.

If I perform exactly the same steps manually (all add ons in IE should be disabled) there is no problem with the RAM usage.

The test project and access to the application are available in the internal description.

The Send dialog should close automatically after submitting a bug or mailing feedback. Generally people won't be using more than one action, so let's eliminate the extra step of making them close another dialog.

I have created a seperate project containing Telerik tests which I plan to import as 'TestAsStep' components into my main test cases.

However, I cannot seem to be able to locate then when i try to add them to the test.

The Visual Studio solution has the project where these components are located added to the workspace, but it's a different project then where the master test is located.

The reason why this is important to us, is because we have a number of different web-apps (verticals) that all share the some common basic behaviour (eg. Login to system, Search for User, etc). It is this common behaviour that we have modelled as individual web tests to be used as 'TestAsSteps' in all of our main projects for each vertical.

Some customers display reports using the XAML RadPdfViewer control. They would like to be able to parse the content displayed in it and verify the application generated reports are correct. Currently this can't be done because there seems to be no way to extract the various text fields that do get displayed. Every single letter is a separate Glyph element and you can't even get at which letter the Glyph is representing.

The test freezes when trying to perform multiple actions in parallel.

Here's a sample code:

Parallel.Invoke (
            () => {Actions.SetText(Pages.ClientLogIn.GeneralBoxContentUcClientRegistrationScetbLastNameTbSanitizedText, "test");},
            () => {Actions.SetText(Pages.ClientLogIn.GeneralBoxContentUcClientRegistrationScetbFirstNameTbSanitizedText, "test");}

If we comment the first action, the second will run just fine.

To reproduce:
Sample project is attached to the internal description.

We should enable teams to use the Friendly Naming option for elements when recording, not just when manually adding elements to the repository. Teams with any significant application end up with huge repositories full of badly named elements. This turns into a maintenance nightmare because teams can't be expected to go back and rename everything.

Adding this to the natural workflow would help teams by getting the right information at the best point in time: right when they're recording.

The ideal flow would be
* Turn on Friendly Naming
* When recording, if an element is already in the repository, don't show the dialog
* If an element is not in the repository, show the dialog and allow the user to enter a friendly name
