The problem is not getting the error via Dot Net programming, but the complete layout destruction of the report as a result of the fact that a picture (in our case a thumbnail of a provider) is unavailable. Catching the report error is not an option. It is too complicated and even if we succeed in obtaining the error, it will be very complicated to remove the unavailable url on the fly and re-render the report again. This seems to be a "known issue" for about 8 years! My question: Is it possible to keep the remaining report "intact" if such an error occurs? This shouldn't be too difficult for the development team..
Multi-value parameters are not formally supported in Telerik Reports that are based upon a Stored Procedure datasource. To circumvent this, I currently use a workaround as detailed in a post by me in the reporting forum here: http://www.telerik.com/forums/how-to-pass-multi-value-parameters-to-a-stored-procedure-datasource One of your admins, Nasko, suggested Telerik may look into implementing this procedure out-of-the-box to streamline it for users, hence I am posting this suggestion here to track it. For an out-of-the-box implementation, it would be nice to see the possibility of setting a parameter datatype to "List" or something similar to denote it will send a serialized string to a Stored Procedure datasource and do the Join() of the selected multi-value parameter items automatically. It will still depend upon having a table-based function in the target database to de-serialize it though, I suspect.
A common scenario is to specify the printer name when printing a report. Currently, this can only be achieved with manual printing where you can pass the PrinterSettings object(https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.drawing.printing.printersettings(v=vs.110).aspx) with specified PrinterName as a parameter to ReportProcessor.PrintReport method. Let us know if you think exposing the PrinterSettings object (for example as the setting of the viewer) would benefit when working with reports. Please share your thoughts and ideas on this topic in the comments. Thank you.
Please add the ability to specify the graph series colours dynamically via binding expressions instead of hardcoding predefined values in palette or conditional formatting. lineSeries.Style.LineColor = "= Fields.HexColour";
Currently, adding Sparklines (http://docs.telerik.com/reporting/sparklinesanddatabars#sparklines) or Data bars to the report requires manual formatting of the Graph item (hiding the Axes, Labels etc.). Let us know if you think the built-in support for this type of chart would be useful when creating reports. Please share your ideas/thoughts in the comments and give a vote for this feature to support it. An example of Sparklines/Data Bars is provided in our online demos - http://demos.telerik.com/reporting/product-sales?&skinName=silver(Product Sales report). Thank you.
There should be a feature to have 3D look and feel for bargraphs. Telerik Report does not support that
Currently, there is no natural way to disable picturebox errors. Sometimes we do not care to know that the image wasn't found, especially when the error shown severely damages the look of the report, stretching and pushing things out of the way. The image URL may be built via parameters, pointing to a large folder where photos of a given employee may or may not exist. It took multiple unhelpful support tickets, many headaches and days of research to finally find an obscure post by a private individual with an undocumented custom solution that worked.
Add a StyleName property for the NoDataStyle so it can use styles from an external stylesheet.
Adjusting the order of rows in a table would be a lot easier if there was the facility to move table rows either up or down. A further facility to move a table row to the top or bottom would also be useful. The same facilities should also be duplicated for table columns. Table rows & columns cannot be dragged and there is no cut & paste for the entire row/column. These should also be addressed.
Add ability to create a rolling average series in a graph. Right now we can do aggregates over the whole series and RunningValue, but it would be good to be able to do RollingValue, where the number of previous values to include in the aggregate can be specified. This would allow us to do "rolling average over last 3 months" for example.
It should be possible to decorated Business Object Data Members with custom description, similar to FunctionAttribute and DescriptionAttribute for User functions, http://docs.telerik.com/reporting/expressions-user-functions#providing-metadata-for-functions It would be very useful to see custom documentation about data source types and -members when configuring a new Object Datasource for the report - more than Method, Type and Assembly which is displayed today. Original forum post: http://www.telerik.com/forums/providing-metadata-for-business-objects-(object-data-source)
It would be very useful if custom size and arrangement of the tool panes could be remembered by the Standalone Designer. In particular it would be useful for the property pane and it's popup windows (e.g. Graph Series Connection Editor) More info here: http://www.telerik.com/forums/remember-user-settings-between-opening-and-closing-the-application
The data sources explorer pane gets crowded and difficult to navigate in large reports with lots of elements bound to their own data source. Instead of the horizontal list of icons, I think it would be much better to have a table listing that can be sorted by clicking the column headers. Data Sources should be listed in rows and Data Source Name and -Type should be in columns. http://www.telerik.com/forums/datasource-explorer-gets-messy
We use Telerik's report books extensively - and find that to be a very powerful way to create dynamically generated reports. The feature request is: if a report's datasource doesn't fetch any rows don't add a blank page to the report book.
I have a Windows Form application that generates telerik reports from serialized .trdx files and sends them out to a set of users at a scheduled time based on user customization. This application queries a database for the serialized report definition, sets the data-source and applies filter and sort criteria that has been saved off to another database as defined by end users through a web application and then attached to an email. It would be helpful to be able to access a property or function within the report or report datasource object that would allow me to determine if the final generated report contained any data. This would allow me to skip sending an email for reports that contain no data. Currently, as per support, there is no way for me to find out if a generated report has data. "Unfortunately, reports do not expose any internal mechanisms that allow checking if any data is returned after the report is generated."
I need to customize the standalone Report Designer. I distribute it with my own product and I need to replace the title of the standalone ReportDesigner with my brand. For example DevExpress report designer allows that.
