When I bind a change event to the grid it will fire each time I click on the row, even if it is the same row. So the selected row is not actually changing, but the event keeps firing anyways. The same thing happens if I programmatically select the row using the select method.

I would rather the change event only fire when when the selection has actually changed rather than on every re-selection.

Otherwise, you might as well call the event "onSelect" rather than "change".

For extra points, it would be cool if the event received a reference to the previous row that was selected.

In you web site we used the Html.Kendo().Grid Helper to build our code for the grid.
When a user refresh the page we want to keep the context of the grid, meaning the same page size the same sort and the same page number.

When we build the grind using Html.Kendo().Grid Helper the only option that we can not set is the Page number (the page that is being display).

I see that using the javascript we can set the page

<script>
var dataSource = new kendo.data.DataSource({
  data: [
    { name: "Tea", category: "Beverages" },
    { name: "Coffee", category: "Beverages" },
    { name: "Ham", category: "Food" }
  ],
  // set the second page as the current page
  page: 2,
  pageSize: 2
});
dataSource.fetch(function(){
  var view = dataSource.view();
  console.log(view.length); // displays "1"
  console.log(view[0].name); // displays "Ham"
});
</script>

But why this option is not available using the MVC Helper

.DataSource(dataSource => dataSource
.Ajax().PageSize(24)
.ServerOperation(true) // Paging, sorting, filtering and grouping will be done client-side
.Read(read => read.Url("/results/gethomes"))

This will be a nice feature to have.
Thanks

Is it possible that you include a way to resize rows on a grid like we have the option to resize columns?

My application has a default row height retrieved from database, we do not let the content to overflow this row height.
But instead we want to give the user the option to manually resize the row to see the full text content.

This row resizing, though it is done only on one row would affect all the rows currently shown.

showColumn() and hideColumn() is great, but it would be nice if we could pass multiple columns to the methods (maybe as an array).

It's extremely slow if I create a loop and call show/hideColumns(x) multiple times.

This would ideally apply to any grid component (Kendo Grid and TreeList).

It would be nice to have the possibility of using own template for the exported data, as some data may be obtained from own functions.
Something like this:
            columns: [
                {
                    field: "ProductName",
                    title: "Product Name",
                    aggregates: ["count"],
                    footerTemplate: "Total Count: #=count#",
                    groupFooterTemplate: "Count: #=count#"
                },
                {
                    field: "UnitPrice",
                    title: "Unit Price",
                    template: '<div style="text-align: right; font-weight: bold;">#= kendo.toString(UnitPrice, "n2") #</div>',
                    exportTemplate: '#= kendo.toString(UnitPrice, "n4") #',
                    aggregates: ["sum"]
                }
            ]

It would be nice to have the possiblity to toggle edit mode on and off for the Grid.
Use case: Often users find things that need changing whilst browsing data. In those cases it would be nice to have a toggle button in the toolbar that enables and disables edit mode. n quiting edit mode the users

In short, we need additional approaches to grid multi select using touch events

Hello,

from our development I could collect some suggestions for improvement, which we would be pleased about in the future:

MVC
-> Grid
-> Export to Excel
- Do not show columns in export - currently only possible with Javascript
- Display additional columns in the export that are only displayed in the export and not in the interface

Allow the use of a custom filter function for a given grid. operator could be assigned a function to perform the filtering.
        var filter = {
            field: field,
            operator: function(row, column, filterUi) {
                var fieldValue = row[column.field];
                return matchesArbitratryCriteria(fieldValue);
            },
            value: value,
        };

Hi,

We are using Fusion software and the grid ARIA attributes of rows are "aria-describedby". This results in the invalid/wrong action tips for Fusion users. If we change it to "aria-labelledby" it works well.

Currently, we have to override the private method _tmpl so we can edit the hardcoded attribute. We need to be able to change this part of the source:

if (navigatable) {
    rowTemplate += " aria-describedby='" + column.headerAttributes.id + "'";
}

It would be great if we can configure them from the grid settings.

$("#grid").kendoGrid({
 ariaAttribute: "aria-describedby"
});

Then the _tmpl function will change like this:

if (navigatable) {
  rowTemplate += (that.ariaAttribute ? that.ariaAttribute + "='" : " aria-describedby='") + column.headerAttributes.id + "'";
}

Thank you in advance.

Adding the same functionality as filterable.extra but in row mode. Similar to the following demo http://dojo.telerik.com/AkaYi/2.

Ability for a grid to show foreign key values from a remote datasource rather than just a fixed array.

Let's say we have an grid with incell editing and navigation enabled. But also there may be some column which are readonly (non editable ). Currently when I press the tab from an editable cell it focus on non editable cell's ,which is no needed. I'll prefer to have a navigation which is stopping only at the editable cells when I press the tab. And also I would like to add new row when I press the tab form last editable cell in the last row.

Please consider adding groupHeaderColumnAttributes as a feature. groupHeaderColumnTemplate is a welcome addition to the grid capabilities and it would be great to easily set styles on group header columns. Frankly, it would be helpful to have attributes available for templates (groupHeader, groupFooter, etc.).

Thanks

How to implement SearchRow in RadGrid for ASP.Net similar to SearchRow in WinForms RadGridView

The SearchRow in RadGridView WinForms is extremely good.

https://docs.telerik.com/devtools/winforms/controls/gridview/rows/search-row

How can we implement the same in Kendo UI RadGrid?

When using a screenreader in navigate mode the grid does not announce that the column headers are links that can be used to sort the table.  There are aria-label tags added when a grid grouping function is active (like the demo at https://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/grid/keyboard-navigation), but there is no aira-label text to indicate the sorting behavior.

At the moment only the Kendo UI Grid with enabled mobile option will generate a header which can react to the touch and hold gesture.

This makes column resizing impossible when a web grid is used on mobile/tablet. Can you check internally if the grid is used on a mobile browser and create the mobile headers that work with the touch and hold gesture even when the grid does not have the mobile property enabled. This should work out of the box for all grids:

There is an option to freeze the left most column of the Kendo Grid by setting the lockable property.
But this is limited to the Left Hand Side columns only and there are no ways suggested to freeze the Right Most columns.

I want to disable/hide the columnMenu the same way like disabling sorting or filtering...
it is not supported the same way as disabling sorting or filtering but only with some Javascript which is not a good solution and not consistent
