Currently, the Spreadsheet component doesn't have the functionality to create a formula using the keyboard arrows.

For example:

1. Open: https://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/spreadsheet/index

2. Select C12 and type =SUM( to set formula

3. Use the arrow keys to select the starting cell. This functionality is not available.

Please provide the described above functionality.

On excel, you can filter merged rows. On the kendo spreadsheet widget, filtering on merged rows is not possible. It would be a very useful feature for us.

Also worth noting is that if you convert an excel file to JSON using Telerik RadSpreadProcessing, and load the kendo widget with the JSON, the widget displays a filter icon but clicking it loads a non-functioning filter. Wouldn't it make more sense to load with a message along the lines of 'You loaded a spreadsheet with filters applied to merged rows, which is not supported in this widget'. Otherwise it's quite confusing to our users.

It would be great if you could put images to cells using html. E.g.: <img src="..."> would result in an image in the cell.

Can the Spreadsheet widget be updated to initialize a sheet that is bound to a datasource when the datasource is an empty object?

Generally, when a sheet is bound to a datasource, it is for the purpose of editing data, creating new rows and updating/deleting existing rows. If a datasource comes back empty, the sheet isn't initialized. So there are no column headers, which can be confusing to users when they don't know what data to enter in which columns. The other thing is that the sheet itself is not fully initialize so that even if we assign column headers programmatically, when users start entering data, the UI becomes unresponsive and generates a javascript error: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'indexOf' of undefined

Hello

We are trying to use the Kendo Jquery spreadsheet but are running across some issues in terms of setting up for printing and/or exporting to PDF.

Currently, we let the user modify the spreadsheet to suit their needs.  The problem is there is no way to see page breaks at this time...that we know of.  The users stretch columns and row to suit their needs but the only way to see if they 'broke' across a page is to export to pdf to see...

We would like one or two options...

1. We know what our page size is - 8 1/2 x 11.  Is there a way to fix the max size of the spreadsheet so it's 1 page wide?  If the user inserts columns then the other columns just get smaller and smaller - proportionally - but ultimately the sheet is as only as wide as 1 page...

2. The ability to see where the page breaks are so they can set up the sheet correctly.

Please let me know if one of these options is feasible or are we stuck?

Thank you

Jeffrey Suffet

Make Spreadsheet xlsx import failure more user friendly. Currently, when xlsx import fails, the UI thread is blocked and the user needs to reload the page in the browser. The import operation instead could process the file in the background and could return meaningful message without blocking the UI.

Dear Concerned,

1. Launch https://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/spreadsheet/index

2. Open attached MultipleSheetsRowHeightIssue.xlsx

3. Please notice there are 3 sheets with default row height 20, 30, 40 respectively (you can check in MS Excel)

4. Now Click export, and open the exported file again

5. Now we have an issue here - all sheets set to default row height to 40. (It seems that it is setting the last sheet's default row height to all sheets)

Its severe issue, please share a fix or at least provide some workaround.

I see some potential for improvements here, I see how the Spreadsheet entirely depends on the JSON structure. It doesn't have to be like this as the setDataSource() method shows clearly that the columns could be further configured:

https://www.telerik.com/forums/datasource---specify-columns#msCK2ytWcESxeUMs-6a3uQ

Therefore, the Sheet columns could be configured upon the widget initialization. Such configuration options could be represented in the following manner for the HTML helper version of the widget:

.Columns<Kendo.Mvc.Examples.Models.SpreadsheetProductViewModel>(columns =>
{
    columns.Add(c => c.ProductId).Name("Product ID").Width(100);
    columns.Add(c => c.ProductName).Name("Name").Width(415);
})

In percent-formatted cells, Excel will place a '%' as the user types. This allows 50% to be entered as '50'.

Steps (excel and kendo):

1. Format a cell as percent

2. Enter 50

Excel shows "50.00%". The actual value is .5

Kendo widget shows "5000.00%". The actual value is 50

I would like to be able to do conditional formatting against other columns and not just the existing conditional formatting.

For example:

Column 1 = 1.2
Column 2 = 1.5

If the value of Column 2 is greater than the value of Column 1, I want the color to be green.
If the value of Column 2 is less than the value of Column 1, I want the color to be red.
If the value of Column 2 is equal to the value of Column 1, I want the color to be black.

Hi,

When editing a workbook with the Spreadsheet component, if a user switches from a worksheet to another, then moves the scrollbars, when switching back, although the active cell is adequately recovered, the scrollbars are not (the user experience is that they do not react to worksheet switching).

Is this behavior planned to be changed? Is there a workaround?

Best

It would be nice to have custom attributes for rows and cells so that I can track things behind the scenes such as row identifiers that could be used to update a corresponding rows in a the data base. This id would not be editable by the user. There are many more uses I would like this for and that is just one example.

I would rather not have to create a column in the spreadsheet just for this and then hide it. I find that very clunky.

Thanks.

1. Open "Sample Kendo UI SpreadSheet Example.html" attached html file in the chrome browser.

2. Click on open button in the Toolbar of the spreadsheet.

3. Select "Sample Excel with Font Colors.xlsx" attached excel file. This excel file contains headers with background color and Rows with ForeColors.

4. Now when the file is loaded, you will observe that B2, B3 and B5 should come up in Red fore color but the fore color of these cell in the kendo spread sheet is Black.

5. Similarly C2 to C5 should come in Green color but the fore color in the spreadsheet is black.

Query: Kindly let me know how can we achieve the fore color present in the excel sheet show show up in the Kendo UI Spreadsheet?

Bug in js\spreadsheet\numformat.js makeDateFormat

You appear to be using the wrong indices inside a nested loop.

if (/^(?:date|time|ampm)$/.test(section.body[i].type)) {

Should be (switch i to j)

if (/^(?:date|time|ampm)$/.test(section.body[j].type)) {

Getting error

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'type' of undefined
     at Object.<anonymous> (numformat.js:630)
