Make the gantt mobile, similar to Scheduler and Grid. Make the edit form slide if you work on a phone or a tablet.

Hi there,

In Dojo chose Kendo UI 2020 R1 SP2 library and created a Gantt chart with one milestone and task.

Milestone's time is 9 AM but it does not line up exactly with the time block at the top of the Gantt chart (looks like 9:01 AM).

Also, tried with other libraries, the result is the same.

Example here: https://dojo.telerik.com/iPuzEcaQ

Please find the screenshot attached.

Hi,

In Dojo chose Kendo UI 2020 R1 SP2 library and created a Gantt chart with two summaries and a task. Each summary has a child task.

Set rowHeight to 40px.

Expand Summary1. Summary2 changed position and moved to the top of the row.

Collapse Summary1. Summary2 still at the top of the row.

Also, tried with other libraries, the result is the same.

Noticed that if rowHeight is not set, summary doesn't change its position.

Example here: https://dojo.telerik.com/IriJegeX

That is for scenarios when the start of one task is dependent on the end of another task. In such a case, if the end of the initial task changes, the start of the dependent task should also change automatically.

Bug report

When the tasks in the Gantt's TreeList are moved/dragged an item appears over them. When the visible size of the TreeList is small, dragging tasks inside it results in unavailability to understand which task is currently being dragged because the draggable item is partially hidden.

Reproduction of the problem

  1. Open this Dojo
  2. Move the Splitter in the Gantt component to the left, in a way at least half of the initially visible TreeView is hidden.
  3. Select Task 2 and drag it.

Current behavior

The draggable item is initialized with a negative "left" CSS style. The task name is partially visible or not visible at all.
image

Expected/desired behavior

The draggable item should be visible. The task name should be visible.

Environment

  • Kendo UI version: 2020.1.406
  • jQuery version: x.y
  • Browser: [all]

Would like to show column grouping for a few columns in the RaddGantt.

e.g.

  • Planned Start and Planned End to be grouped under Planned
  • Actual Start and Actual End to be grouped under Actual
  • Financial Detail columns to be grouped under Task Financials

Also, would like to add to the query, how can I have the Gantt chart with the dates shown vertically as in the image attached. I don't want the Week or Month name coming in the grouping. Just dates in the timeline view.

With this customization it will be possible to use checkboxes or combo boxes and normalize the selection of data. Actually is possible to use only text and date columns.

I'm interested in using the Gantt chart for a project scheduling application but I need a lot more customization on the look & feel than is currently available. For instance, being able to eliminate the secondary timescale bar under the primary so that if you're in, say, the month view there is no 'week' slots under it.

I would like to be able to reorder rows (items) by drag and drop but I want to disable them nesting. I would like to be possible to configure whether dropping a task would create a nested task or just reorder the tasks.

Problem: We really want to fit Gantt's on particular paper sizes (def. landscape A3); however, using the paperSize option doesn't really work as the output (font size, row heights, etc.) end up being too big and not suitable.

And for the majority of the time, paperSize set to auto creates an output (font size mostly) too small.

Rock and a hard place...

Solution 1: When pdf.paperSize is not set to auto i.e. A3, A4, etc. Allow a percentage scaling to be set, ideally individually, on X and Y.

Solution 2: Scale fonts and scale timeline on X axis maintaining taskList width.

Ultimately, get a large plan to fit on landscape A3.

Is it possible to set custom holidays in gantt like Windows version ?

Currently % complete calcs for summary tasks are based solely on the sum of % complete per child task / number of child tasks (x%+y%+z%)/3. In this way, a small scale task of 1 or 2 days has a large impact on summary % complete whereas a large task of 60 days has a small impact. Request is to add in weighting based on duration (end date - start date).

In the Gantt control there should be events for expand/collapse to provide things like on-demand loading of subnodes for large project-trees

Right now the Gantt marks the current day with a line.

It would be great if we could pass an array of objects with title, type and begin/end information, which would be marked on the timeline background in a similar way -- for example display holidays or context time information (when planning something in a larger context).

Does not need to be editable -- being able to override the color for each object would be nice

The Gantt widget has support for parent-child relationship, but the hierarchy only works, if the title property of a gantt task is used in column definitions. So if you have for example only an ID column in your column definition, you can not expand/shrink hierarchy.

Suggested improvement: make this option configurable via the columns declaration by adding "expandable: true/false" or make the hierarchy appear in the first column if the title property is not in the columns declaration.

We have been looking into the possiblity of using Telerik Test Studio; however, the Gantt Chart control from Kendo is a key part of our application, and having a Translator to help with validating the control contents would be really helpful.

The current list of events associated with PDF creation of Gantt chart data is insufficient. In order to make this control production suitable the following PDF generation events/features would be needed:

1.- Ability to provide progress on the PDF file generation. Right now this can take minutes.

2.- Ability to cancel a PDF generation that is in progress. Right now this is not possible, but would be needed for lengthy operations.
