Of course we all want folks to buy Kendo (to support further development) but even as someone with a licence to the product (as part of my Ultimate Collection) I am often prevented from using KendoUI with clients by the licensing confusion that is the GPL.

My clients understand that t is covered by my commercial license to code for them, and they can use it royalty free. The problem is int he future and ongoing compliance. What they absolutely do not want is to have to make sure any dev who will ever touch that code in the future is ALSO a telerik licensee. It is simply too much to keep track of for a UI toolkit.

You will sell more copies and greatly improve the ability of your evangelists to get Kendo into the market if you move to a significantly more client friendly license.

We would like to write a UI using Kendo UI Mobile and be able to still use it with mouse scrolling on desktop browsers like Firefox / IE etc.

This was also asked about here: http://www.kendoui.com/forums/mobile/general-discussions/mouse-wheel-scrolling-in-desktop-browser.aspx

It would be nice to have some additional "flow control" for the MVVM framework, including ...

"if" -

<div data-bind="if: [property]">
    // renders if the given value is true
</div>

and "not"

<div data-bind="not: enabled">
// renders if the given value is false
</div>

and "each"
<div data-bind="each: array">
// renders this section for each item in the array given
</div>

I know some of this can be achieved with templates, but this would make it very convenient and mean we did not have to use templates everywhere, and could lead to much more natural coding.

When the cursor is inside a table cell, typing the TAB key should move the cursor to the next table cell (moving left to right, top to bottom).

Add a way to check if the current AutoComplete value would be in the suggestions. Since the widget already searched for the value to see if it is in suggestions I would prefer to be able to check the result of that search. Something like calling kendoAutoComplete.search() but not have it affect the UI - just tell me if it was found or not. Is that possible?

I want to be able to alter the UI if the user has entered a value that is not detected in the suggestions to let them know it is not a valid value, and it seems silly to have to manually see if the value is in the datasource (and handle the filter variants 'startsWith' and 'contains') when that is already being done by the widget. So, I'm just looking to detect whether the search done by the widget found the value in suggestions or not.

This is still not fixed I did a detailed walk through of your code and found this:

Let me start by saying I am honestly trying to help. So unlike many of the other posts i have read I would rather you listen and not just tell me we are wrong... because what im saying is in both senerios below is out side of the programmer control, and the template your built is well not ready for them.

In short the template (though great it is) for the data-grid is deeply flawed and reliant on perfect data or it fails. I am of the general mind set that the templates should work for the most messed up senerior's, but taking that back a step they should work for simple ones also.

I also reference line numbers in the keno.web.js file

I have mocked up this example based off of your example.
Condensed json data call: (Not returning null values) http://jsfiddle.net/3zhqx/1/

Resaults: Uncaught ReferenceError: age is not defined

Pulling data from other locations where you cant controll the formatting of the incoming data json data call: (IE Web 2.0)
 http://jsfiddle.net/EyCZd/2/ No Error but the template does not pull the error.

http://jsfiddle.net/qqskQ/3/
Uncaught ReferenceError: Name is not defined

Resolustion: (Many Options,but all have costs...)
21309:
 rowTemplate = kendo.template(rowTemplate, settings);

This builds the row template:

21333-21395 Template builder.
In this you reference the data with a with clause and then fill those values from the data. True this is the most expedient but also the most fragile. It causes both of the error above. It means that the system can not handle for columns that you cant control the naming of, or if the json data is missing a column or if the column is puposly missing to save space bacause its nulle.

Jquery ran into the smae issue and return null in the exsampel. http://api.jquery.com/template-tag-if/ read the big header at the top...

To fix this you can loop through the columsn try to ge the data and then build a html set acordingly. Personaly this may seam longer , but the computed total cyles would be less then the total computed cost fo the next one item. The last option is up for debate.

The second option is to add to the current builder a way to check for undefined opjects... this is exceedingly difficult seeing as to how tightly coupled and fagle that particular line of code is.

This is how they handled for it in another template in your code:
10675  { data.title || ""} insted of with(data)...... e(title)

I tried to manually do this, but i have only been a java programmer for two months and lack all the verbiage needed to write the code well... that and it was 3 in the morning.

The third option is what i had to do out side of the control, but its an unneeded mess fix that makes me pass a 1/3 more data to handle for this. Almost a deal breaker for me.

I had to fix all incomimng feed and gerate a fixed column name and colection, and I had to make sure all my jason and my feed have every row have every column.... when dealing with massive data sets that sucks both on bandwidth and cpu. and column in the. That is why i went mvvm in the first place to deffer costs...

So back to the fix you could when binding the data... I think 4601 or there about... check to make sure each line has every row and fit it in as null if it does not. the reason this may be the fastes is because your already looping through all the data on every call and sooooo you can add in at 4723 I think.... that would allow you to add in a null object with the correct name into the data.

I think the last one is the right idea but i ren out of time to trouble shoot the issue nay more.

The use case is this:
User is either pulling data from a myriad of sources and union the data so the rows may not always match, but thats ok because its web 2.0... say netflix and blockbuster feeds... bad example you can shoot it down but the need is there.

user is managing lots of data and needs to save bandwidth and cpu by processing less data. (got to love and hate the cloud.) so he can not always send null filed in json.

User is geting data from a source that is not known or well defined, and needs to pass it right to the client... for whatever reason.. or user is getting dynamic columns from data and may not know what the columns are or how well they are formatted...

Hope this helps.

Sorry for the spelling im busy got to run.

When sorting a foreign key column on grid, the sorting is performed using the value/id - which is wrong. The sorting should consider the text displayed to the user.

Non-date values don't trigger change events...so I can't remove\fix non-date values

If you're gonna do that, then please at least make it so it ONLY accepts dates, like wipe the text if some non-date value is in there.

What you're doing to me is making me need to write my own blur\change for every date picker I use...ever...in anything

Current way of implementing functions in viewmodels suck because you have to use this.get and this.set to access the viewmodel properties.
The syntax would be much prettier if you can use advantage of TypeScript strong typing.

Inserting a new table in the editor in IE ignores the current cursor position and adds the table as the first element. If you add a new table, this will be added in the first cell of the first table.

I will try to explain the functionality I am looking for a little better. Suppose I have a tabstrip with 3 pages. Page A, B and C. Page C is an info page and doesn't have sub pages, but Page A and B have a button (or listview) to navigate to a sub page (view) of page A (A-sub) and B (B-sub).

Desired behaviour (IMHO):
Example 1:
When I start the App, it will always show page A. I can click on the Icon for page B to navigate to page B and then click page C to navigate to page C. Now (when I am still on page C) I click the back-button, the app navigates back to page B and when I click the back-button again, I will then navigate from page B to page A. In my example (and in the apps I so far have been working on), I consider the tabs (pages) on the tablist as a menu and when I click the back button I don't want to go to a previous visited page, but I want to exit (with or without warning) the app.

Example 2:
Now I start again, still on page A of course. On page A I have a button that navigates me to a sub page (A-sub). I click the button and the sub-page shows. When I click the back button I want me app to navigate back to page A from sub-A. When I click the back button on page A again, I want to leave the app.

Example 3:
Start the App and page A shows. I click the tab to navigate to page B. On page B there is a list with product categories. I click one of the categories which makes me go to B-sub where the products for that category are shown. Clicking the back button would bring me back to page B. Another back-click would allow me to exit the app.

Example 4 (the last one):
Start the App and page A shows. I click the tab to navigate to page B. On page B there is a list with product categories. I click one of the categories which makes me go to B-sub where the products for that category are shown. Now I click the tab for page A, which makes me navigate to page A. Clicking the back-button this time would ask me to exit the App.

In short: I see the pages belonging to the pages on the tabstrip as parent pages. When one of these pages is currently shown, the back button should close the app. No matter what previous navigation you have done. When on a child page (navigated from a parent page) and clicking the back-button (either hardware or software) will make you go back to it's parent page.

With native IOS, Android programs we can put the field prompt (for example User or Password) as a string in the input field that goes away when data is entered and when the field is cleared shows up again. Is this possible to add?

if you compare the rad editor with the Kendo wysiwyg editor, the Kendo one lacks the wide range of functionality. It would be nice if they were the same.
