I created this suggestion in the forum, but I thought I echo the same info here for others to enter their vote. Recently, the Telerik ASP.Net Ajax released their Q2 with a nice & powerful "Notification" control. This control can be very useful with 3 tier apps using pure Ajax to notify actions that take place on the server or web service. I suggest to consider this control for future development. ..Ben
Integrate with breeze.js (www.breezejs.com/). Kendo UI needs better change tracking capabilities and unit of work support and automatic fix-up of navigation properties. Kendo UI's DataSource only deals with entities of a single type. Kendo UI's ObservableObject tracks whether an object is new or dirty, but not whether an object is deleted or detached. On removing items from Kendo UI's ObservableArray, items are not marked as deleted. Etc.. Breeze.js' entity manager deals with entities of all types, tracking their changes, fixing up their navigation properties, and submitting their changes in a single unit of work.
Currently when you enter custom text (referred to as custom value) the control sets the text entered as both the TEXT and VALUE. I suggest this should operate like the Telerik ASP.NET combobox which only binds custom entered text to TEXT and null as the VALUE. This then allows you to differentiate between an item selected from the list and one entered. When you call text() it would return the selected item text or custom text entered and value() would return the selected item data value or NULL if custom text.
This would be great. It is kind of what I had in mind when I suggested this: http://kendo.uservoice.com/forums/127393-kendo-ui-feedback/suggestions/2662536-add-grid-column-filters. I currently use this type of filter where the filter is just a free text field and upon blur or enter, it runs the filter. having control over the type of filter syntax used would be great ... so that it is Linq, List, Oql, or custom string compatible. This is a common feature in the Telerik Grid when used in client mode...
There are a couple of things that are very common that I would like to add buttons for. The first is for clearing the value and the second is a + for adding new items to the list. The + button is an important one from a usability standpoint. Quite often the combo/dropdown is populated from a list that is managed on a separate page. It is too cumbersome to have to use stop entering and go to the admin page to add the new item and then come back to add whatever they were working on previously. I know I could simply add a button beside the widget but this just doesn't look as nice as it being built in.
For example; similar to http://www.highcharts.com/stock/demo/arearange Having area 'scatter' support, such as 'scatterArea', and 'scatterAreaRange', like the existing 'scatterLine', is also desirable.
The NumericTextBox should behave like standard input fields and automatically select all the text when tabbing into the control. This should work for NumericTextBox controls whether using inside or outside of a Kendo grid.
Since now Google started doing it on Gmail, I believe that we'll need even more these features.
Grids correctly display aggregate information in a groupFooterTemplate, but it only shows this information when the section of the group-by is visible (not collapsed). Is there a way to display the aggregate information in a template that shows when that section is collapsed?
I'd like to see an event for Grid contents modified (after-edit or after-add/delete, etc). This would enable a sync with a DataSource, for instance, without further user action. Presently, this is not easily achieved.
Add a multiple date selection to the Calendar. A multiple date selection calendar is very important for professional web applications in many situations. Also, there is a lack of events in the API. It is always important to provide more events then less. Here a few suggestions: Property year; /// Year displayed by control. Property month; /// Month (1 to 12) displayed by control. A method in the API to easily get the selected date(s). A method in the API to easily set the selected date(s). An option to indicate if we allow/disallow multi-selection. A callback event (and passing the data as an argument) when a date is selected/unselected to allow/disallow the selection/deselection (by returning a true/false). This would allow to easy show a warning message when some dates are selected/unselected. We may currently do part of it in the change event but adding events onbefore/onafter selection would be nice. Add the option to hide/show days from previous/next month. Add the option to enabled/disable click from previous/next month. The Year selection on the top should be a combo that allow keyboard input. You may check the Yahoo Calendar event & properties. It will provide a good examples (http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/docs/YAHOO.widget.Calendar.html)
It would be great to have a true Timeline control for showing events overtime on a scrollable axis.
Possibility to add filters to hierarchical datasource, that execute recursively. Use case: In TreeView we need to search for some element text, we need to see elements that contain some text and their parents expanded. Filtering could be usefull here.
When using IE10/11, it natively supports the clearing of input element so essentially when hovering over a Kendo ComboBox with a selected value, this is the end result: http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii484/vobreshkov/KendoComboBox_IE.png?t=1376577876 I am constantly getting requests to have such way (or adding an extra menu item) to my combo boxes to allow users to click on something and clear the selection. Please consider extending similar functionality to the combo box that is available on all browsers.
AngularJS, which just released 1.0, is gaining a lot of fans (including myself and my developer-friends). There already is an AngularJS adapter for jQueryMobile, and I hope the KendoUI Team will work on an AngularJS adapter for KendoUI very very soon. I think a solid AngularJS adapter implementation will pull my team over to KendoUI for good.
If it is at all possible, please implement drag & drop inside the grid to enable users who need to manually sort items in order of importance (for instance a list of books I they wish to show in certain order).
Can we make the tabstrip scroll-able instead of wrapping tab items to another line? Let's say I'd like to target both Ipad and iphone and the tabstrip would have 6-7 items. http://www.kendoui.com/forums/mobile/tabstrip/tabstrip-wrap.aspx
