Add support for multiple ranges for the Spreadsheet's SUM function, for example:

=SUM(E5:E6:E9:E10)

Needs:

Load big excel files stored on the server

Possible implementation:

Load on demand data:

First load the file structure (sheets name, column names and number of rows)

Then load data when sheet is selected or scrolled

With Excel when you use a custom number format of #,##0.00 and you enter (10) into the cell it will be displayed as -10.  With the Spreadsheet control the same example yields (10).  How can we get the same behavior as Excel with the Spreadsheet control?

  dojo example: https://dojo.telerik.com/@843335b6-427b-4127-af09-fbe9957bfec6/uGaVAVat

Thanks,

Ron

Text formatting examples are bold, underline, italic. if a react wrapped jquery spreadsheet component cell has two words something like 'Hello World' i want only 'world' to be bold which means in the cell it should show as 'Hello World'. Instead of applying these formatting options to cells apply them to the text in the cell. please make this feature applied to the react spreadsheet as well.

For the time being the Spreadsheet parser is unable to read files which tags are not in the default namespace. Try to open the attached file in this demo project: https://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/spreadsheet/index

You won't be able to load the file. If you open the file in Excel, save the file ("Ctrl+S") and try to load it in the Spreadsheet again, there will be no issues with it. The difference in file's structure before and after being saved in Excel could be seen in the attached screenshot.

The code in red is the structure of the file before saving it and the one in green is after the "save" operation. The difference between the files is that the structure of the one saved in Excel inserts the tags in the default namespace while the original document uses the "x:" namespace.

It will be very useful if we can load files with defined namespaces in their structure.

Expose API that would allow a check of whether filtering has been applied to a given range/sheet. Especially identify the case when filtering is applied but no items were filtered out.

Hello,

Is is possible to trigger validation in cells in spreadsheet control? I want to make all validation controls with a button click outside the spreadsheet control.

1. Open https://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/spreadsheet/index

2. Put some text in B2 so that it does not fit in the cell width.

3. Press Wrap Text button

4. Press Wrap Text again

5.  The row height is not adjusted back to the original height (Excel does it)

Dear Concerned,

1. Open https://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/spreadsheet/index

2. Import attached Book1.xlsx. Observe Cell F4 of Sheet1 has a font size of 72.

3. Change it to 8, row height does not change automatically

4. It should be same as Excel behavior

Please provide a fix or any workaround in the meanwhile.

https://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/spreadsheet/index

1. Enter some text in a cell.

2. Increase the cell font size to 48.

3. Reduce the cell font size to 8.

4. Double click the row resize handler: the row height is not adjusted to correspond to font size 8.

The same behavior can be observed when opening an existing .xlsx file that has some text and font size set and following steps 3-4.

Dear Concerned,

It would be very useful if Kendo can provide two more functions like fromJSON & toJSON in a Spreadsheet as mentioned below

fromStream() - to load an excel file form an Excel stream string so that the developer does not need to convert it to blob etc.

toStream() - to return excel stream string, it would good if it is possible to get stream without blocking UI operation. As of now, we first call toJSON & then call kendo.ooxml.Workbook(jsonSpreadsheetData).toDataURL(); to get excel stream and it is time consuming operation.

Use case: keeping excel file/stream on the server and fetching it using API on UI and then using fromStream to load & render it. And toStream is the same as toJSON to save modified stream back to the server since stream size is very low as compared to json.

Please see if it is feasible to provide these features.

It would be useful if it is possible to filter between a range of values, like in Excel. For example filter for values that are between 3 and 6.

The FromJson method of Telerik.Web.Spreadsheet.Workbook doesn't add images when a JSON containing an image blob is passed to it.

It would be nice if the FromJson method supports images.

I would like to be able to generate PDF from spreadsheet using HTML template (like http://dojo.telerik.com/Ovegu), so i could specify headers and footers for all PDFs that are created by the user.

Currently, when trying to load a corrupt XLSX file, the Spreadsheet will freeze and no message will be returned to the user. Improve the widget to unfreeze the view and notify the user about the problem.

Add option for manual calculation of formulas, as available in Excel.

It would be a great feature to have to save time for inputting values without updating other dependent cells and once data entry is done user could press "Calculate Now" and all of the cells updated in one go, same as we do have this feature in MS Excel 365.

It would be great if you would add accessabbility to the spreadsheet as it seems to be the last control without this feature.

Currently the focus gets trapped inside its grid and the user cannot leave the spreadsheet with the TAB key. At least this should be avoided. It would be also better if only the first cell would be focusable and you then could navigate with the arrow keys, as with thousands of cells it is not very comfortable to use the TAB key.

Excel supports deselecting cells from selected ranges, e.g. selecting a range from cell A1 to A10 results in a range A1:A10. Then deselecting cell A5 from that range produces two new ranges - A1:A4 and A6:A10.

Now a more complex example - selecting multiple ranges with intersecting cells - A1:B10, A5:D10, A9:C14 and A9:G9.

Deselecting cell B9 in Excel produces a new range with cell A9 only and then a range C9:G9. And B9 should be excluded from the other 3 ranges.

Currently the Spreadsheet widget does not know how to do this. There is no logic to decide what new ranges should be created on such operation. What it currently knows is creating new ranges and these ranges may overlap. Thus clicking on cell B9 creates a new range with cell B9, instead of deselecting B9 from the already selected ranges.

Enhancement

Please refer to this Dojo example - https://dojo.telerik.com/IRIRahoS/2.

Current behavior

Currently, if the filter configuration is not explicitly set, the filter button from the toolbar seem inefficient. If you toggle a filter for a column, that filter is applied for that column only. In Excel, the filter will be applied for all columns. Also, you need to manually select all the cells that you wish to filter/sort.

Steps to observe the above:
In the Dojo example, toggle filter for a column only (without manually selecting cells).

You can see that the filter will be applied for that column only. Please compare to Excel.

You will see that there is no content to be filtered/sorted. You need to select manually. Again, please compare to Excel.

Expected/desired behavior

When the filter button is pressed, execute the filter configuration logic, so that it will behave as Excel.
filter: { ref: "A3:G49", columns:[] },

Currently, the Spreadsheet component doesn't have the functionality to create a formula using the keyboard arrows.

For example:

1. Open: https://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/spreadsheet/index

2. Select C12 and type =SUM( to set formula

3. Use the arrow keys to select the starting cell. This functionality is not available.

Please provide the described above functionality.
