When resizing column widths have an option to lock the last column to the right hand border of the grid when sum of columns total width is smaller than grid. This way the grid will always fill the columns to the width of grid. For example if user reduces column 2's size in a 3 column grid then increase the size of column 3 so that it keeps the grid full width.

 Instead of this:

It would look like this:

In the popup edit grid, when the editable: false option is displayed, the portion of the value is at the top rather than horizontal. Can you change it horizontal?

Currently, you cannot disable all columns in the column menu - it requires that at least one column is enabled.

However, if the grid contains any non-hidden columns which have IncludeInMenu=false, then it should be possible to disable all the remaining columns using the column menu.

Hi Team,

We are have gone through the documentation for make specific column editable. We found that we need to make it in schema. As we are using some complex objects along with ODATA expand.

We are unable to maintain or Add all the fields under schema.If we make a editable property of column to Boolean and based on value framework will me either read-only or editable.

Consider a scenario like Grid with 10 columns based on quantity, price,discount change need to calculate the tax.

Here tax calculation will be dynamic and some columns we can add on the fly.

In some cases like ODATA expand  if i want to make expanded column to editable then it a tough process to edit

like above situations it will be useful if we make column editable to Boolean for achieve column level editing

Thanks

When using the Nova theme locked command columns are not styled correctly.
In the following dojo one command column is locked and not styled while another command column is not locked but styled correctly.

Request

I'd like to ask for a demo which utilizes the most up to date approach to creating a Kendo UI Grid using NPM, TypeScript, and in a SharePoint 2019 with a Gulp serve environment.

Thank you for your consideration!

When clicking on CheckBox to select a line, the widget check other checkbox (on other column of the same line) inserted from column template.

I suppose that the selector that the system use is too large.

For information, i created a template for boolean column based on how kendo generate checkbox structure (just de be coherent)

See the code extracted from https://dojo.telerik.com/EqiPIkiV

 var checkBoxtemplate = function(boolValue){
   	var checkedStr = '';
    if (boolValue) {
    	checkedStr = 'checked="checked"';
    }

    return '<input class="k-checkbox" data-role="checkbox" ' + checkedStr + ' type="checkbox"><label class="k-checkbox-label k-no-text smi-checkbox-fordisplay"></label>';
 };

$("#grid").kendoGrid({
  columns: [
    {
      selectable: true,
      width: '30px'
    },
    { field: "name" },
    { field: "age" },
    { field: "administator",
      template: function (dataItem) {
        return checkBoxtemplate(dataItem.administator);
      }
    }
  ],
  dataSource: [
    { name: "Jane Doe", age: 30, administator: false },
    { name: "John Doe", age: 33, administator: false },
    { name: "BigBoss Doe", age: 70, administator: true }
  ],
  selectable: true
});

Currently, if you use alwaysVisbile=false, the pager disappears on each grid rendering and it's very annoying for the end user. Another strange thing about this pager is the way the logic works behind. If the rows are equal to the page number of rows, currently you'll see the pager, but in fact you don't need it.

Whether you try to resize a "grouping column" (a column without an associated field) or a "data column" (the lowest level column - one with a data-index), resizeColumn does not work. The grid gets messed up. Sometimes the wrong column gets resized, sometimes columns just disappear.

After the kendoGrid is created, the headerAttributes field (of every column) has a id value (generated by Kendo) of some random GUID - but this GUID is nowhere to be found in the entire HTML.

So, there is no way to link a Kendo column object to an HTML (th) element.

Release 2019.R2.SP.Next

The issue is reproducible when the grid consists only from Multi-header columns, the setDataSource() method has been used and one of the columns is initially hidden.

After setting the new data source, the last header gets hidden. The "display: none;" style has been applied to the "th" HTML element.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a grid with multi-header columns only.

2. Hide one column initially.

3. Set a new data source via the setDataSource() method.

4. The last column gets hidden.

Sample Dojo:

### Reproduction of the problem:

1. Run this dojo
2. Collapse one or more of the subCategory groups
3. Collapse the category Group
4. Expand Category

### Current behavior

The aggregate rows are missing and the locked and unlocked content is misaligned

### Expected/desired behavior

Rows should be aligned

I hope other developers realize the importance of this feature and vote for it.

It would be nice (in fact, important to have) an event that we can hook into, after the Edit event fires but before the editor template (more relevant when the editor is a custom popup template).

Let me explain. On my custom editor template, I have a few dropdownlists that are not defined as foreign keys from the grid datasource. The dropdowns are defined on the template, usually with a Read action on it. This read action fires when the template is rendered. In the Edit event, I need to set some of the elements as different or hidden or shown based on the selected value from more than one dropdown. This is needed so that some other elements are shown/hidden when the popup is rendered. The problem is, The edit event is too early to know the selected items in these dropdowns since the data for these ddls are not loaded yet. Since I need values from multiple dropdowns, hooking into individual databound events of the ddls won't work either.

So, if we had an event something like "BeforeRender" on the grid that fires after all the datasources are loaded and databound for all relevant elements on the editor template, but before the template is rendered onscreen that would be great. Then, we can hook into this event and when we do, all the datasources for all the dropdowns, comboboxes etc. are loaded and databound already. We can use the items from these elements to show/hide other elements.

when putting grid into new item creation state it should be possible to put new item with some predefined fields.

Current it is realy difficult to achieve that:

using datasource and insert do not contain isNew on model, also put it on top of grid page is difficult, not possible

using model.set. on edit event causing fireing save event when it should be fired only when item is realy saved.

Consider a grid with grouping and pagination. When we collapse a group, the items from next page should take up the space left be the hidden rows, i.e., grouping should work across pages and not just the current page. Otherwise, grouping is a useless feature in a grid with pagination. This should work for client as well as server pagination and also for virtual scroll.

It would be nice to have the option for a single filter input that searches all columns on the Grid. I was able to implement my own custom solution but having to apply that to every grid in my app is cumbersome.

I understand the importance for the flexibility side of having each column with its own filter box, but for simpler apps this is overkill and a single filter box is enough. The column component already has the [filterable] flag so this can possibly be used to exclude any columns if necessary.

I was thinking of something similar to what is an out of the box feature for the Datatables JS plugin

https://datatables.net/

Default search box that searches everything. Very simple to use and understand for basic users or when your application only calls for something that simplistic.

I was working with Sencha ExtJS and they have to option to make components "stateful" (http://docs.sencha.com/extjs/6.2.0/classic/Ext.state.Provider.html). This will safe user modified settings in browser (defaults to cookie but you can provide your own implementation).

Example (for grid):
* we specify width=100 for first colum
* we allow users to resize columns
* If a users resizes a column the new width will be stored in state
* ... if the user later opens the page again, values from state will overwrite "defaults" from code.

If we use this for column width, visibility and order we've a perfect customizable grid view.

Currently, the Kendo grid has an option to apply only one type of filtering for a specific column (be it standard filtering or multi-checkbox filtering).

There is a custom approach which actually builds a custom check box list that is attached to the standard filter. But, there are lot of options that are missing like Select All, Search box etc.

There should be a way where user can apply different types of filter criteria on the same column.
