Hello,

we want to show filtered data in the options list of the dropdown component and request a feature, to provide a filter callback function or the possiblity to pass different data sources to the component.

The use case is, that the dropdown should show existing values but when opening the dropdown list, the user should only be able to select a subset of the data source. Yes there is the possibility to disable items, but we want to complete hide them as a choice.

Currently we apply the workaround to filter the data on the open event and reset the data on the close event but we think, that this can be a common feature for the dropdown list.

Thank you!

Can we update the dropdownlist control to allow for a filter region template. This will allow, so that a custom component can be placed where the filter box is.

The use case that we have is to have our common input component, which has all the application styles pre-applied, be used for filtering. We can currently do this for grid component's filtering. But unlike grid filters, kendo dropdownlist does not allow for a template for the search region. This would be a good feature and consistent with other controls in the kendo library.

It takes lot of time for rending thousands of records from client side, some times browse gets crashed, causes performance issue. Virtualization support will help us to overcome this issue, as the same provided in Angular 1.x and Kendo MVC controls. Can you please provide virtualization support for Autocomplete & Multi Select controls.

The dropdowns should provide an easy way to have certain items in the list as inactive. The easiest way could be an attribute. In addition to [textField] and [valueField] an [inactiveField] could be added.

If the assigned data field is a boolean the item in the list can be either enabled or disabled.

Reason for this request is, that those value lists often are dynamic, meaning that an item in the list could be superseded by a new one. But the existing records in the database still could reference the older item, but new records should be prevented from selecting the new item.

In the example below "X-Small" is initially the selected item in the dropdown.  Once you click the "Sort" button and sort the array, "2X-Large" becomes the highlighted item in the dropdown but "X-Small" is displayed.  I would expect that "X-Small" would be highlighted.  After opening and closing the dropdown "2x-Large" becomes the selected item even if you don't select it.  The same behavior does not happen with a simple select dropdown.

import { Component, OnInit } from '@angular/core';

@Component({
  selector: 'my-app',
  template: `
  <form>
    <div>
      <p>T-shirt size:</p>
      <kendo-dropdownlist [data]="listItems" [(ngModel)]="selectedShirt" name="shirtsize">
      </kendo-dropdownlist>
    </div>
    <br/>
    <div>
    <select [(ngModel)]="selectedShirt" name="shirtsize2">
      <option *ngFor="let d of listItems">{{d}}</option>
    </select>
    </div>
    <br/>
    <button (click)="sortArray()">Sort</button>
  </form>
  `
})
export class AppComponent implements OnInit {
    public listItems: Array<string> = ["X-Small", "Small", "Medium", "Large", "X-Large", "2X-Large"];
    public selectedShirt: string;
    ngOnInit(){
      this.selectedShirt = this.listItems[0];
    }

    sortArray(){
      this.listItems.sort((a, b) => a.localeCompare(b));
    }
}

Is there any way to set error focus on the selected items in multi select component.
And after that, user can take immediate action to update the value, say auto Open the drop down dialog and go to the selected item.

It would be nice to be able to organize the content of dropdown list in categories, link car models organized by brand or cities organized by state or country.

It would be nice to have access to a selectionChange event in the autocomplete similar to the other dropdowns. This way when binding against arrays of complex objects, we could receive the whole object selected instead of the single value property out of it.

Currently keyboard navigation in Multiselect is a bit limited in comparison to the same functionality in Multiselect in Kendo UI for jQuery.

It would be great if the shortcuts in Multiselect in Kendo for Angular matched shortcuts in Multiselect in Kendo UI for jQuery.

It would be very important to customize keyboard navigation for autocomplete? Some users are used to different navigation than default.

https://www.telerik.com/kendo-angular-ui/components/dropdowns/autocomplete/keyboard-navigation/

For example I would like select highlighted item by pressing "Tab" not "Enter".

The desired feature is partially implemented for single selection only and with no functionality on the nested grid.We would like a multiselect DropDown box with searching functionality and when clicked to make a selection, a grid will be displayed with sorting, searching, pagination and filtering functionality.We strongly believe that this kind of functionality is necessary for enterprise grade applications with complex forms.
Thanks in advance.

Please add grouping to combobox and dropdown for feature parity with kendo for jquery.

I would like to migrate from kendo jquery to kendo angular but the lack of group by is a major problem

The Dropdowns, autocompletes and pretty much every component in the Kendo Angular 2 should allow the developer to specify a callback function in the [valueField] or the [textField] attributes so we can use complex objects with these components.

This way, we could do this:
//template

<kendo-autocomplete [data]="nodes"

                        [valueField]="getDataValue"

                        [placeholder]="'search'"

                        class="search">

</kendo-autocomplete>

//class

public getDataValue(node: any): string {

  return node.getData().getName();

}

This functionality is available on almost every other component set out there, but is somehow missing from Kendo. It makes the components almost useless outside of running simple plunkr examples that work with contrived data objects with very little depth. In the real world, particularly with typescript, data object hierarchies are commonplace and this is simply a must have feature.

find below appcomponent.html code: <kendo-dropdownlist [defaultItem]="defaultYear"
 [data]="budgetYears"
[valueField]="budgetYears.value">
</kendo-dropdownlist>

and in appcomponent.ts file:
public budgetYears: Array<{ value: number }> = [
        { value: 2019 },
        { value: 2020 },
        { value: 2021 },
        { value: 2022 },
        { value: 2023 },
        { value: 2024 },
    ];

as mentioned above I have provided the mentioned codes but I am not getting the binded values. Instead of that I am getting [object Object]. Why it is so and where I am doing mistake. Please provide me a solution for this. Thanks

A Telerik filter act as "contains" operator (probably 90% of use cases)
should be good to avoid writing everytime filter by hand

There's currently no way to change the style of a dropdown button to match the other "looks" of a regular buttons like "bare", "outline", and "flat". It is important for a row of buttons to have the same look and feel. Please add "look" property to dropdown buttons.
