[Mobile] Create appointments on click and hold (long press)

Currently, creating an appointment is made by double clicking on a slot. The case of single clicking to create an appointment is already in another request.

If you take the example of Google agenda, you can create an appointment by selecting directly the dates by sweeping with one long single click.

Here would be the request:

An event similar to SchedulerEditEventArgs (containing Start, End, IsAllDay, IsNew ; IsCancelled: to be able to have a custom edit form) that would be triggered with one long single click selecting the dates/hours slots of the appointment.

Although the discussion targets different functionality, we are keeping the current request open as we consider it valid to ensure better UX for appointment creation on mobile devices and we would like to see how the demand for that goes.

Hi Tom,

Thank you for the clarifications! We currently have a feature request that covers this scenario - allow click and drag over the slots to make a selection based on which a new appointment is created. You can find the request here:

Drag over the slots to create an appointment in them

I already voted for it on your behalf to increase its popularity and you can follow it to keep in track with its progress.

Apart from that, as confirmed, the current request does not cover your desired scenario, however, since it is also considered valid and useful for mobile usage, we will keep it open to see how the demand goes.

Hello,

I think you may have misunderstood the request.

Indeed, the idea would be the following: you click on a slot (ex: Slot1: Monday, 10am to 11am, with 1 hour slots), by maintaining the click you move to another slot of the scheduler (ex: Slot2: Tuesday, 5pm to 6pm). While the click is still maintained, you could visually see the selection of all the slots between the slot you initially clicked in and the slot your pointer is still on while maintaining the click. On the release of this click, this would trigger an event where we would be able to get the starting date of the earlier slot (of the scheduler) and the ending date of the second slot and IsAllDay value if the selection has been done in the AllDay section (ex: this would result in an appointment having the following dates: Monday 10am to Tuesday 6pm).

It would be for computer: Indeed for mobile, this would be a bad user experience if this feature would be triggered while scrolling on a mobile scrollable page/container.

However, I am not currently needing a long press feature for mobile usage.

Hello Tom,

Indeed, we have a separate request to allow creating/editing appointments on a single click - EditOn parameter for the Scheduler. I see you already voted there and in case you haven't, you can also follow the post as this is the best way to keep in track with the progress of the feature. Once we update its status in the portal, if you are subscribed, you will be notified via email accordingly.

In regards to your other request for the ability to create an appointment by sweeping with one long single click - as far as I can understand here the target is mobile usage where it would be useful to create an appointment by click and hold on the desired slot. We consider that a valid request as well - I have just tweaked the title a bit to cover the specific scenario. I also added your vote to increase its popularity as we are prioritizing the feature requests implementation based on the community interest and demand. As a creator of the post, you are automatically subscribed to be notified via email for status changes.
