Currently the scheduler widget determines the layout based on device type.  Unfortunately this does not provide a fully responsive design.  Modern day responsive websites should look good on any sized screen regardless of device type.  There is also the issue that with new devices constantly coming out the list of devices being checked may become out of date quite quickly.  Another consideration I have when I design an app is that one may not be viewing something full screen on a laptop or desktop computer.  If this is the case then a page can look horrible due to the fact that an assumption is made on screen size because it is a windows device.  I've also seen laptops with screens as small if not smaller than some tablets which also effects the screen size assumption.

Being web developer for a very long time I understand the complexities that would be involved in this change so I'd also like to provide an interim solution that may (but may not be) easier to attain.  In working with your scheduler I had the idea of putting my own logic in to force moble/tablet view.  I was able to accomplish this with very little code except that manually switching the mode (setting the mobile setting to phone or tablet) doesn't work for the scheduler.  If that could be fixed it would at least provide a workaround for the above feature until you figured out how you wanted to handle it long term.

Thank you,

Brandon

I would like to see a separate assembly that can be referenced both on ASP.NET MVC and Application server side and that the DataSourceRequest can be transformed into a DataSourceResult on the Application server side and sent back to the website.

At the moment this is not possible due to the non-generic definitions of the DataSourceRequest and DataSourceResult classes.

Referencing Kendo from the Application server side also requires references to System.Web and others that shouldn't be necessary.

Statically typed transport serialization should be supported, as required by WCF, Message Queuing or even Protobuf. Such transport mechanisms are required by N-Tier environments.

At the moment, if all DataSourceRequest's should be processed on a web server and propietary database licensing is in effect (ex. for MSSQL) where the cost is per port, it would end up being very costly.

Just like posted here (and declined) : http://kendoui-feedback.telerik.com/forums/127393-kendo-ui-feedback/suggestions/3844570-serialization-support-of-datasourcerequest-and-app

I would like to see a portable separate assembly that :
- can be referenced both on ASP.NET MVC side and WCF server side.
- A DataSourceRequest and DataSourceResult class that serialize well in both SOAP and REST WCF.

Referencing Kendo from the Application server side also requires references to System.Web.Mvc, Razor pages, ... and others that shouldn't be necessary.

Hi,

We are using globalization with UI for ASP.NET MVC to translate control to French (fr-CA). However, while most messages are correctly displayed in French, there are some that are still displayed in English. For example, if we use the Grid control with filter on a 'string' column, the dropdown for the operators shows both French ("Commence par") and English ("Is empty") operators:

Looking at the source code, we can see that in ressource files "Messages.fr-FR.resx" and "Messages.fr-CA.resx", there are some messages that are still in English (for example, Filter_StringIsEmpty).

Note that corresponding text seems to be correctly translated in jQuery messages file (for example, "kendo.messages.fr-CA.js"), so it might only be a matter of applying the same translation to .resx files.

Note also that the same problem seems to be present in the source code of the latest version (2020.1.114).

Thanks!

Row's hover effect should be optional and it could be enabled/disabled in grid's configuration, the same as we add Selectable, Navigatable, Sortable, Editable, etc., functionalities to grid. This could apply to odd/even coloring too. Should no need to do hacks to achieve this.

I would like to suggest an option when installing or upgrading Kendo MVC project to allow selection or deselection of languages for content and scripts. The extra languages add time to loading the web site and slow down publishing. We only need en-UK and en-US for our main project.

We are moving to automated deployment. Currently when upgrading, we have to manually remove the extra languages which are not required. It would be great to have an option in the wizard to do this when installed and this is set as default for upgrading.

Thanks

Lance

Of the highest priority, we desperately need file explorer for inserting and uploading images. In the AJAX editor, this appears to be build off the radFileExplorer control which is the other one we REALLY need for MVC which doesn't exist at all.

Although the Tree view is very powerful on displaying the tree structure, modifying it is very frustrating. We almost go for a separate module for maintaining the info. SOme examples here may be very helpful, especially for Kendo novices.

To have a consistent look in grids toolbar, it should be possible to add an icon class to custom buttons. Not possible through .HtmlAttributes() because those gets applied to the wrapper link and kendo icons are displayed via inner span tag.

.ToolBar(toolbar =>
    {
        toolbar.Create(); // Has [+]-Icon
        toolbar.Custom().Text("My Custom Button"); // Does not have an icon
    }

Would be nice to have an option like

toolbar.Custom().Text("Reset Grid Settings").Icon("k-i-funnel-clear");

which results in

<a href="/Tarife" class="k-button k-button-icontext">
    <span class="k-icon k-i-funnel-clear"></span>
    Reset Grid Settings
</a>

I find ButtonGroup for mobile framework very useful to desktop (classic) web application too.

Could you add this widget to web framework please?

An important configuration is to choose if have comportament like "checkboxlist" or "radiobuttonlist", and for sure its orientation, vertical or horizontal.

There should be capabilities to group parent resources to selected child resources

Currently the Scheduler groups all child resources under each parent resource.
Example Resources:
Parent resources: New York Tennis Club, California Tennis Club
Child Resources: Court 1, Court 2, Court 1, Court 2, Court 3, Court 4

Currently the Scheduler groups parent and child resources as:
- New York Tennis Club is grouped with Court 1, Court 2, Court 1 and Court 2, Court 3, Court 4
- California Tennis Club is grouped with Court 1, Court 2, Court 1, Court 2, Court 3 and Court 4

I would like the capability to group parent resources with selected child resources, in my situation im trying to achieve this structure of grouping:

Desired Grouped Resources:
- New York Tennis Club is grouped with Court 1 and Court 2
- California Tennis Club is grouped with Court 1, Court 2, Court 3 and Court 4.

If you look at the Syncfusion Scheduler, they have this feature, it would be nice if the Telerik/Kendo Scheduler could do this..

If you look at the link i provided below, you can see that the Syncfusion Scheduler allows multiple resource groups which has the capability to group parent resources to selected child resources.

Syncfusion Scheduler Demo shows:
Room 1 is grouped to Nancy and Michael
Room 2 is grouped with Steven

The tools should have all the options as the javascript for example: Gantt custom views can only be used if you use the JavaScript version. The lack of full support defeats the point of buying a MVC wrapper.

I have a problem with the DataSourceRequest Filters that are passed from grid to controller - they are not deserialized as I would expect it.

At the client side, I pass a single Composite Filter with logic: "or" and several Filter Items with same field and operator, but different values:

page=1
pageSize=30
filter=somefield~eq~123456~or~somefield~eq~242615~or~somefield~eq~242617

At the server side, they are not deserialized in the same form as I would expect, but in a recursive way. I would prefer to not convert the whole filter chain in my own code, only to process it in the same way it was sent from the client

Cancellation token is widely supported in entity framework. And it has big benefits for long running queries to allow cancel them.

ToDataSourceResultAsync methods should support passing cancellation token as a parameter.

Take the look and feel of the UI for IOS gauges, for instance the linear gauge, and duplicate that into a more customizable gauge tool set.

Particularly, the ability to gradient linear gauges, remove ticks and round the edges. Similar to a progress bar with a value marker.

Description

I am restoring the filter for a Kendo Grid in a Controller from a stored filter string. When there is an exponential (e.g. 1e-9) as a value, FilterDescriptoractory.Create() throws an exception "Expected RightParenthesis". Looking at the filter string it seems to have the correct number of parentheses.

On some occasions exponentials work but I can not determine under which. Under which conditions will exponentials work in filters?

Example

var filterString = "ShipName~eq~'ShipName1'~and~(Freight~eq~0~or~Freight~gte~1e-9)~and~ShipCity~gt~0";
var filters = FilterDescriptorFactory.Create(filterString);
