The datasource for ComboBox object does not support lambda expressions like ListView (and many other objects). These 'hardcoded' strings are error prone and is causing headaches when altering modelschema's.

DataSource(ds =>
    {
        ds.Custom()
        .Sort(sort => sort.Add("PropertyName").Descending())
        .Transport(tr =>
            tr.Read(read => read.Action("Action", "Controller"}))
        );
    })

It would be nice to have an option to supply the Grid control with a default filter operator as shown below.
The current workaround is long and error prone, because you have to redefine the complete list, the default filter has to be on top. So the ordering matters, that is always a bad idea.

Filterable(filterable => filterable
    .DefaultStringOperator(StringOperatorEnum.Contains)
   )

Many widgets offer functionality to define a template (header, row, toolbar or whatever) by an id, such a way that the id refers to a html section that actually contains the template like:
<script id="idOfSomeTemplate" type="text/x-kendo-template">
<!-- template contents -->
</script>

I use this a lot because it's easy to use and whenever the widget is part of another widget (common example: a grid part of a tabstrip) Razor /C# won't allow you to do nested inline markup blocks (@<text> </text>). With the above template it's possible to define the tempalte outside the nested inline block.
Now it seems the MVC wrappers don't have the possiblity to do this for the grid toolbar template.
TLDR:
I would have expected this templateid method:
@(Html..Kendo().Grid<T>()
.Name("Grid")
.ToolBar(toolbar =>
{
toolbar.TemplateId("idOfSomeTemplate")
})
)

it would be blaze if the map markers would be a observable collection for mvc.this way you could update it through the viewmodel.

Currently, if I want to bind an ASP.NET TreeList to an OData DataSource, I have to define the data source using a javascript object:

https://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-mvc/treelist/odata

https://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-core/treelist/odata

I would like to be able to be able to define the OData DataSource using ASP.NET Razor syntax just like the Grid:

https://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-mvc/grid/odata
https://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-core/grid/odata

Thank you.

We have a web page critical to the web application. In the absence of a suitable MVC widget we had to use a ASP.Net WebForm ListView control along with ASP.Net Ajax (Accordion for expand/collapse functionality) and JQuery (for client side validation).

The web page accomplishes the following key functional requirements –

a. Ability to group products – Using ASP.Net Ajax we were able to provide the expand / collapse visual effect.

b. Ability to enter order quantities very quickly -  a lot of stores place orders at the last minute  (5-10 minutes before order deadline) for valid reasons.  The web page provides a text box inline for quick entry.  On a desktop, the user can traverse the rows within the group using the tab key.   The web page typically contains 150 –  200 products for entry.   With Telerik MVC Grid widget, in the absence of inline editing, having to click on Edit/Update/Cancel buttons dramatically increases the number of clicks / touch / swipe.  Besides, it creates a real estate issue on smaller form factors.

c. Real time validation – using JQuery we were able to validate the row as and when the quantity was entered.  Any error would show below the row in question.  The error would continue to show until the quantity was revised.  The error however, will not stop the user from entering quantities on other rows.  This approach lets the user review any errors in the end.

The closest MVC widget we could use from the Telerik collection was the grid widget with grouping.  However, it falls short on points b and c above.  There is probably some workaround available but then we would lose the LOW CODE advantage.

From what I can see, there is the possibility of providing the TimePicker a list of Dates when building it via JavaScript (http://docs.telerik.com/kendo-ui/api/web/timepicker#configuration-dates), but not through the MVC wrapper. It would be nice to have parity between the two methods, if possible.

ClientTemplateId is fine when you are using kendo templates, but in our case we use handlebars templates, and in order to tell a listview that we need to do something horrible like

<script type="text/x-kendo/tmpl" id="TPStrengthTemplate">
	#= Handlebars.templates.TPStrength(data) #
</script>

asside from interop, the script tag is untenable in large applications, as it may force us to create TONS of superfious script tags (some with the same id in the case of repeating partial views). Especially when template precompiling is a 'best practice' for client templating (hence our use of handlebars)

instead there should just be an option to specify a client handler pointing to Handlebars.templates.TPStrength

The Kendo UI Grid currently supports posting the rows in the grid back to the server with the rest of the form, but in order to do this you have to add ClientTemplates for each column, with a hidden input to store the value. If you want to use client-side validation with this setup, you have to add the validation attributes to the hidden inputs as well. In an ASP.Net MVC situation, this adds up to a lot of manual synchronization between the validation attributes that exist on the viewmodel and the corresponding columns in the view. It would be great if the grid could enable this type of behavior in a way that is more automatic and requires less manual synchronization between the viewmodel and view. For example, if there was some kind of MVC helper that would take the display expression and name for the hidden input and would generate it automatically, complete with the validation attributes from the property being bound to, that would be great.

today we need to loop through all rows in the Grid to do something in a row. On Telerik Extensions we had the OnRowDataBound event which we had the current row to do something.

ASP.NET MVC DisplayTemplates should by evaluated and take effect in Grid columns (see: http://www.telerik.com/forums/using-a-displaytemplate). Thus for custom formatting, defining a ClientTemplate() should not be required.

When having a filter on a number, the only option to chose, is a NumericTextBox, which adds decimals to the number (very annoying).

    public enum GridFilterUIRole
    {
        Default = 0,
        NumericTextBox = 1,
        DatePicker = 2,
        DateTimePicker = 3,
        TimePicker = 4,
    }

The only way to get rid of the decimals, is to ad some scripts that does this:

function NumericFilter(e) {
    $(e.element).kendoNumericTextBox({ "format": "n0", "decimals": 0 });
}

We need a IntTextBox option.
Thank you.

Make DataSourceRequest and MenuItem objects serializable to support sql server session management. My suggestion is to make all these type of objects serializable.

Kendo UI Menu currently supports only mouse over on child/sub menu items.

Root items are configurable to open only if moust is clicked.

But actually child items also should have the same type of configuration.

In my organisation people simply clicking everytime on menu items, they dont wait for the mouse to open its child items. And when the child menu items opened they press mouse button by mistake and the menu gets closed that gets them irritating.

Most of the time DefaultValue isn't known. Allow us to enter null or don't require it.
