Security Trimming feature will call AuthorizeAttribute.OnAuthorization internally, it would be nice to make sure that IsAccessibleToUser is thread safe.

Thanks

Currently telerik MVC grid with DateTime column render datetime in local time zone. Nothing but if browser is accessing the site from CST time zone, grid automatically converting EST time to CST and shows value in CST. We have seen workaround as saving and showing data in UTC format. However this is not acceptable for some business scenarios.
It’s better to have option to enforce grid to render date time as is input data. So that it will show consistent date time irrespective of local time zone.

In order to use a kendo combobox in an editable kendo grid, you have to bind it to an object with two properties (1 for the value and 1 for the text) - unless you happen to be in the fairly unusual scenario where the value and text are the same.

However, in a standard form, you can only bind a kendo combobox to a primitive type for the value. There is no way to bind to an object, which is required in the context of a kendo grid.

So what is required in the grid, is not supported in a standard form. I don't understand the complexities of why that is, but this inconsistency does not make for a good developer experience. It results in either creating different EditorTemplates for the two cases, or binding to the generic "object" - which introduces other challenges / issues. Also - it means there is no good way to post the text back to the server when the kendo combobox is used in a standard form.

See here for more details:

ToDataSourceResult is very very slow on Large datasets - getting the Total Count is the issue, have an option to omit the total count or provide a way to inject the total count with some more efficient code.

A feature like devexpress MVC "Insert DevExpress MVC Extension" would be a great help preparing an MVC cshtml mark-up with Telerik MVC extensions.

If you change the dataSource to a grid (for example by changing the filter conditions) so that less data is returned, you will not be warned if the current page is no longer valid. No error is reported and no data is returned and you won't have a clue why.

Try this to replicate:

Make a paged grid plus a couple of datepickers to filter the grid data by date range. Add a button to make the new filter dates effective.

Write a new MVC controller method to populate the data, using the ToDataSourceResult extension method e.g. "return Json(obj.ToDataSourceResult(request));" to return data.

Open a sizeable dataset in the grid (many pages) and go to the last page.

Change the filter conditions to be much more restrictive. Click the button to make them effective.

Watch as the grid displays no data, the code reports no error and stepping into your controller confirms that the method is returning data.

Confusing huh? An error or warning would make this much clearer.

The Grid should allow switching between case sensitive and case insensitive filtering.

I think it would be more useful to scroll to the first scheduled event on the day view rather than show an empty morning if there are only scheduled events in the afternoon. The month view does not show times, so when a day view is selected the user expects to see their meetings rather than having to scroll down to the first event.

The WPF implementation of the Kendo Grid has a "selectColumn" type that can be used to create a checkbox column that implements a multi-select functionality into the grid.

It would be nice to get this kind of built-in functionality in the standard javascript version of the Kendo Grid, instead of having to manually create a templated unbound column.

With the current version available from the DLL it will be possible to simplify bundling and include of CSS and JS files. I currently do something along the lines of

    //BundleConfig.cs
        var version = typeof(Kendo.Mvc.UrlGenerator).Assembly.GetName().Version;
        var kendoVersion = string.Format("{0}.{1}.{2}", version.Major, version.Minor, version.Build);

        bundles.Add(new StyleBundle("~/Content/kendo/"+kendoVersion+"/css").Include(
            "~/Content/kendo/"+kendoVersion+"/kendo.common.min.css",
            "~/Content/kendo/"+kendoVersion+"/kendo.default.min.css"
            ));

        bundles.Add(new ScriptBundle("~/Scripts/kendo/" +  kendoVersion +"/scripts").Include(
            "~/Scripts/kendo/" + kendoVersion + "/kendo.all.min.js",
            "~/Scripts/kendo/" + kendoVersion + "/kendo.aspnetmvc.min.js",
            "~/Scripts/kendo/" + kendoVersion + "/cultures/kendo.culture.en-GB.min.js"
            ));

And similarly in the views. Getting the version directly from the DLL without hacking around in Assembly.GetName.Version and string manipulation will make this clearer. I'd also suggest you update the documentation to reflect this pattern.

As its a new method/getter, it is not a breaking change.

Just like posted here (and declined) : http://kendoui-feedback.telerik.com/forums/127393-kendo-ui-feedback/suggestions/3844570-serialization-support-of-datasourcerequest-and-app

I would like to see a portable separate assembly that :
- can be referenced both on ASP.NET MVC side and WCF server side.
- A DataSourceRequest and DataSourceResult class that serialize well in both SOAP and REST WCF.

Referencing Kendo from the Application server side also requires references to System.Web.Mvc, Razor pages, ... and others that shouldn't be necessary.

Today, when we use IEnumerable<dynamic> type as the model for the kendo grid, the grid is generated fine, but the javascript serialization fails when we pass the datasource to the GridBuilder constructor.
This results in empty grid client side, because the datasource is empty, even if the html initially generated contains the values.

This behavior comes from a problem with the JavaScriptSerializer (also present in the JSon() function of MVC)
