Can the RadGrid generate columns from the client data source schema, it's painful having to manually declare the columns both in the RadGrid and the schema, again can something be done to make this control more user friendly?

We recently added row group functionality to our grids and we and our users are very happy with this.

Only thing that bothers us is the drop functionality on the grouppanel. We have an wish to make the drop functionality of the grouppanel much more intuitive. Especially when the RadGrid is already grouped on multiple columns.

Possiblity to drag a new, not grouped yet, column to the grouppanel to the position/order where you want the grouping of the grid to come up with. E.g. drag the next column between the first and the second grouping column. It is not possible to add it at a specific location.

 this case can be reproduced on the RadGrid Grouping demo on your site:

Hi,

Without using radFilter to setup multiple filters before applying RadGrid can only be filtered one column at a time. Can a button be added to the Grid when filtering is applied that when Clicked will filter the Grid based on all of the column filter selections that a user selects?

Thanks,

Such an exposed method, which returns the value from the ExportOutput, would be useful to further enhance the exporting capabilities of the RadGrid control. A very practical example would be to export numerous RadGrid controls into one Excel file.

The SearchRow in RadGridView WinForms is extremely good.

https://docs.telerik.com/devtools/winforms/controls/gridview/rows/search-row

How can we implement the same in ASP.Net Ajax RadGrid?

Provide a simple interface to showcase exactly in what order the columns have been sorted in (ex. 1, 2, 3, etc in column header) - matching the functionality in Kendo UI Grid:

In some cases, inside the Grid table, the tfoot element is rendered before the tbody element. This causes some readers to read the footer before the body. A possible workaround is moving the tfoot after the tbody in the OnGridCreated event: function OnGridCreated(sender, args) { var $ = $telerik.$; $('tfoot').each(function (index, item) { debugger var $item = $(item); var $next = $item.next(); if ($next[0]) { if ($next[0].tagName.toLowerCase() == "tbody") { debugger $item.insertAfter($next); } } }); }

A forum discussion on the topic:

The column headings read by JAWS are not great. I see that the rendered table headings have an aria-label attributes, but the text of these labels appears to match the DataField attribute of the grid column. Unfortunately, the DataField is often not the same as the human readable text displayed on the column header. This provides an inconsistent and sometimes confusing experience for screen reader users.

For example, if my data field is named something like full_name_with_title, but my column heading is actually "Full Name," the user will hear fullunderlinenameunderlinewithunderlinetitle, but we'd like them to hear "Full Name". All those underlines are confusing.

It would be much better if Telerik used the HeaderText attribute of the column instead of the DataField attribute. This would ensure that the presentational text and not the internal column names were read to the user.

A temporary workaround can be using the following OnGridCreated handler:

function OnGridCreated(sender, args) {
    if (sender.get_enableAriaSupport()) {
        sender.get_masterTableView().get_columns().forEach(function (col) {
            var header = col.get_element();
            var headerText = (header.textContent || header.innerText).replace(/^\s+|\s+$/g, '');
            header.setAttribute("aria-label", headerText);
        })
    }
}

Requesting the improvement of this functionality to include scrolling.

Brief summary of the issue:

MultiCell selection uses a virtual marque tool to select items and does not include items that are out of view.

Hello,

It would be nice to be able to clear the filter for each column as opposed to creating an external button to clear all filters. I was thinking of similar to below.

I have NEVER seen a real world UI with a GridDropDownColumn in a Grid where you didn't want to save the ValueField of the GridDropDownColumn (ex. Product ID), but also wanted to display the TextField (ex. Product Name) as well as sort and filter by the TextField.  This functionality should be part of the grid and the default behavior for GridDropDownColumn.

Release R3 2019
For keyboard users who don't have a specific Context Menu key (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menu_key), they typically need to use the Windows standard SHIFT+F10 hotkey to trigger a contextmenu event.

For example:

1.	In IE, load http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/grid/examples/columns-rows/columns/context-menu/defaultcs.aspx
2.	Tab to a column header link
3.	Press SHIFT+F10 (standard Windows/IE hotkey to open context menu)
4.	Notice the context menu displays, however, the focus is really on the IE menubar. IE supports F10 to open the menubar, but is also seeing SHIFT+F10 too.

Or
1.	In FireFox, load http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/grid/examples/columns-rows/columns/context-menu/defaultcs.aspx
2.	Tab to a column header link
3.	Press SHIFT+F10 (standard Windows/IE hotkey to open context menu) then press down arrow
4.	Notice the context menu displays, however, the focus is really on FireFox's application system menu in the upper left.

Chrome does not have this issue - it opens the grid context menu only.
We need IE and FireFox to also only open the grid's context menu, and not trigger default browser behavior.

According to https://yuilibrary.com/yui/docs/event/contextmenu.html, it is possible to correct this behavior by calling event.preventDefault() when SHIFT+F10 is pressed, but then trigger a synthetic contextmenu event anyway.

As a workaround, we know users can press Escape to close the browser's default menu and bring focus back into the HTML document (and thus the grid's context menu), but this throws off the user experience and becomes a training issue.

Currently the Width of the Edit controls inside the inline Edit form of the Grid can be set only in pixels. In order to be able to implement a responsive layout the developer has to be able to set the width of these controls in percentage.

Hello,

If the RadGrid is set to RTL:
RadGrid1.MasterTableView.Dir = Telerik.Web.UI.GridTableTextDirection.RTL

When a user wants to resize a column, the LEFT border of the column should be resizable. When it is moved, the width of the column should expand or shirk, accordingly. However, in RadGrid the RIGHT border of the column is always resizable – also in right-to-left. This is very confusing and unnatural for RTL users.

See video that shows the current behavior:
 http://youtu.be/mGpYNs0x5gc

See another video that shows how it works nicely in Excel. I think it should work like this in RadGrid, too:
http://youtu.be/GMO7tWzt-mw

Would love to see this implemented.

Thank you,
Daniel.

There should be RadGrid.ExportSettings.WorksheetName property to name a Sheet inside the Excel file, instead of having it named after the RadGrid.ExportSettings.FileName property as well as to avoid additional coding to Work around this.
