Currently the default font of RadEditor in Chrome is set to "Times New Roman". This font, however, is not set to the text.
Last Updated: 17 Nov 2015 06:23 by ADMIN
When EnableTrackChanges property of RadEditor is set to true:

-The font name of the written text in RadEditor cannot be change and instead the default one is used. This behavior is observed under FireFox, Chrome and Safari. The workaround is to mark the already written text and then set the desired font.

-The chosen font size from the toolbar returns to its default value when the cursor changes its position and then returns back to its previous position. This behavior is observed under FireFox.

To replicate this (as it is rather difficult to explain) go to
Click on the HTML tab and replace all the content with:

    <div style="width: 100%;">foo bar

Click back on the Design tab and click at then end of the first line. When you press enter, the new line will be filled with non breaking spaces equal to the amount the inner-most div was indented.
Won't Fix

The problem could be described with the following behavior:
·         Cannot insert a link with the Link Manager;
· If switched to HTML mode cannot return to Design mode, switching to Preview – allows Design mode.
· A JavaScript error is thrown on focusing and on editing the content area.

Possible fixes are:
o   Removing the Modernizr JavaScript file;
o   Setting the RadEditor with ContentAreaMode="Iframe" property;

The floating toolbars do not appear properly with the new RadWindow Lightweight rendermode. They are too short, backgrounds are missing and sizes are incorrect, so buttons are misaligned and/or overlapping.

A workaround is avoiding the lightweight rendermode of RadWindow through the web.config. Add the following in the <appSettings>:
*<add key="Telerik.Web.UI.RenderMode" value="Lightweight" />*

and other RadWindows that need LightWeight rendering (but they must not be on the same page, or masterPage-contentPage-userControl combination) can have their own RenderMode property set to Lightweight.

When creating a tree view with nodes which on click create instances of the RadEditor and pasting inside the content of the second instance throws a JavaScript error.

The following workaround will help you avoid this behavior:

Set this function to the OnClientLoad property (OnClientLoad = 'OnLoad')

function OnLoad(editor, args) {
var originalGetPasteIFrame = Telerik.Web.UI.Editor.Utils._getPasteIframe;
Telerik.Web.UI.Editor.Utils._getPasteIframe = function (parentDoc, editor) {
if ($telerik.isIE8) {
this._pasteIframe = null;
return, parentDoc, editor);

The RadWindow used to hold the toolbar does not have a proper width set and the toolbar's layout is unusable.
Possible workarounds:
- avoid setting the Width property of the editor in percent
- set the ToolsWidth property to the desired static value
- use the following script to calculate the current dimensions each time the toolbar shows up:
function OnClientLoad(sender, args) {
	var toolPopup = sender.get_toolAdapter().get_window();
	toolPopup.__editor = sender;

function resizeToolWindow(sender, args) {
	if (sender.__editor) {
		var editorDims = $telerik.getBounds(sender.__editor.get_element());
		var currDims = sender.getWindowBounds();
		sender.moveTo(editorDims.x, editorDims.y - currDims.height - 10);

where the OnClientLoad function is attached to the OnClientLoad event of the editor

Leave your comment on the desired behavior - whether the toolbar should have a static width (i.e., the initial width with which the editor renders, as is the current behavior with the ShowOnFocus ToolbarMode), or whether it should update its width according to the editor width when it shows up (as the script above does).

Subsequent showing of an Paste HTML dialogs updates the title with some delay.

A possible workaround is using the code from this example:

<telerik:RadEditor runat="server" ID="RadEditor1" OnClientCommandExecuted="OnClientCommandExecuted">

<script type="text/javascript">
    function OnClientCommandExecuted(editor, args) {
        var command = args.get_commandName();
        var dialogContainer = editor.get_dialogOpener()._dialogContainers;
        var dialogName = "";

        switch (command) {
            case "PasteFromWord":
            case "PasteFromWordNoFontsNoSizes":
            case "PasteAsHtml":
                dialogName = "CleanPasteHtmlContent";

    function updateTitle(sender, args) {
        var clientParameters = sender.ClientParameters;

        if (clientParameters && clientParameters.dialogTitle)

The behavior of Paste tools should be the same as in Firefox, Chrome, etc., where the clipboard access is also forbidden.

1. Add an image to the editor and set it's width and height.
2. Select the image and click in the toolbar on the ImageManager
3. Click on the Properties tab

Result: The width and height are set back to the initial ones.

In this scenario the EncodeScripts and RemoveScripts filters are disabled, so that script tags can be inserted. Using a script tag with some HTML content after it and submit when still on HTML mode, the content after the script tag will be removed.

For the time being you can workaround this problem by forcing the editor to switch to Design mode on submitting:

<telerik:RadEditor ID="RadEditor2" runat="server" OnClientSubmit="OnClientSubmit">

    function OnClientSubmit(sender, args) {

Entering two consecutive spaces in the middle of a paragraph causes the cursor to jump to the end of the paragraph.

The issue is reproducible with version 2015.1.401 (and not reproducible with Q3 2014)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the following url in IE11, setting the compatibility mode to IE8 (or in real IE8)
2. Type in a short sentence into the Editor
3. Place the cursor in the middle sentence and hit the space bar (or other char inserting button) twice

Result: The cursor will jumps to the end of the sentence.

The default action for the Bold and Italic buttons ([B] and [I]) on the toolbar, is to insert the <strong> and <em> tags. However, this is not the same, and may insert the wrong semantic information.

Bold and Italic are used in far more contexts than just emphasis. For example, many people use these functions to create headlines. (While not semantic, this is not incorrect because they choose to apply a styling.) Italic is also commonly used in quotes and references. None of these applications are correct with <strong> and <em> tags.

Also, remember that <strong> and <em> only render as bold and italic in the default settings for the most common browsers. There are many browsers that don't/can't render these as bold and italic, and a website's stylesheet can also easily override the rendering of <strong> and <em>. This is not what the writer expects, as they have simply used the Bold and Italic buttons in the editor.

Instead, the Bold and Italic buttons should insert style code, such as <span style="font-weight: bold"> and <span style="text-decoration: italic">. The Underline button is already doing this.

If the preference is to use tags instead of inline style, then the <b> and <i> tags should be used instead. Please note that, even though these were deprecated in HTML4, they are now again valid for HTML5.

If the goal is to produce semantic HTML, then the Bold and Italic buttons should be replaced with Emphasis and Strong buttons.

I *know* the editor can be configured to do this. It is the default setting (which is used by 99% of your users) that is wrong.

A similar situation was previous the case for the Indent button, which inserted the <blockquote> tag. Thankfully, this has been changed to insert the style="margin-left: 40px;" code instead.

(This is not a new situation, many of the references are over 5 years old.)

The exact steps to reproduce are:

1. Use RadEditor in
2. Add this HTML:

3. Go to Design;
4. Select from the empty paragraph (<p>&nbsp;</p>) to the end of text (<p>end</p>);
5. Copy via Ctrl+C;
6. Try to paste at the end of the "end" paragraph.
