When scroll inside RadGrid in Chrome on a mobile device or in the DevTools responsive/mobile mode, the browser throws [Intervention] Unable to preventDefault inside passive event listener due to target being treated as passive. See I get 1 error message for every pixel the grid scrolls.

The problem is due to jQuery and is reproducible with 1.12.4 and 3.3.1 versions of it.

As a temporary workaround you can use Template column with a DataField set.

It becomes hard to see the checked checkboxes because of the selected color it has by default matches the select color of the grid

        .RadGrid_BlackMetroTouch .rgSelectedRow .RadCheckBox.RadButton_BlackMetroTouch .rbToggleCheckboxChecked::before,
        .RadGrid_Bootstrap .rgSelectedRow .RadCheckBox.RadButton_Bootstrap .rbToggleCheckboxChecked::before,
        .RadGrid_Metro .rgSelectedRow .RadCheckBox.RadButton_Metro .rbToggleCheckboxChecked::before,
        .RadGrid_MetroTouch .rgSelectedRow .RadCheckBox.RadButton_MetroTouch .rbToggleCheckboxChecked::before {
            color: white;

        .RadGrid_Glow .rgSelectedRow .RadCheckBox.RadButton_Glow .rbToggleCheckboxChecked::before,
        .RadGrid_Office2010Black .rgSelectedRow .RadCheckBox.RadButton_Office2010Black .rbToggleCheckboxChecked::before,
        .RadGrid_Telerik .rgSelectedRow .RadCheckBox.RadButton_Telerik .rbToggleCheckboxChecked::before,
        .RadGrid_WebBlue .rgSelectedRow .RadCheckBox.RadButton_WebBlue .rbToggleCheckboxChecked::before {
            color: black;

Sample to reproduce the behavior and compare the default colors in other states/cases:

        <telerik:RadCheckBox runat="server" ID="rcb1"></telerik:RadCheckBox>
        <br />
        <telerik:RadCheckBox runat="server" ID="rcb2" Checked="true"></telerik:RadCheckBox>
        <telerik:RadSkinManager runat="server" ID="RadSkinManager1" Skin="Bootstrap" ShowChooser="true">
        <telerik:RadFormDecorator ID="RadFormDecorator1" runat="server" DecoratedControls="All" RenderMode="Lightweight" />
        <asp:CheckBox ID="Checkbox1" Text="some checkbox" runat="server" />
        <telerik:RadGrid ID="RadGrid1" runat="server" OnNeedDataSource="RadGrid1_NeedDataSource" RenderMode="Lightweight">
                    <telerik:GridTemplateColumn HeaderText="rad check box column">
                            <telerik:RadCheckBox runat="server" ID="RadCheckBox1"></telerik:RadCheckBox>
                            <br />
                            <telerik:RadCheckBox runat="server" ID="RadCheckBox2" Checked="true"></telerik:RadCheckBox>
                <Selecting AllowRowSelect="true" />

And a dummy data source that is not a good data source in general, but it will suffice to get this running so one can observe

    protected void RadGrid1_NeedDataSource(object sender, GridNeedDataSourceEventArgs e)
        (sender as RadGrid).DataSource = "abcdef";

Selecting a cell from horizontally scrolled RadGrid with allowed Keyboard Navigationcauses the page to be scrolled to the left in IE 11.

Comment: If the Batch editing is enabled the cell is selected, but the batch editing is not started.

Code to reproduce the issue:
<div style="width: 4000px">
        <telerik:RadGrid ID="RadGrid1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="true" AllowSorting="true" Skin="Telerik" RenderMode="Lightweight"
            <ClientSettings AllowKeyboardNavigation="true" Scrolling-AllowScroll="true" Scrolling-SaveScrollPosition="true">
                <Selecting CellSelectionMode="SingleCell" />
            <GroupingSettings ShowUnGroupButton="true"></GroupingSettings>
            <MasterTableView  CommandItemDisplay="Top" Frame="Border" ShowFooter="true" AllowPaging="True" AllowCustomPaging="true" ShowGroupFooter="true">

There are two easy solutions:
- set HighlightDeletedRows to false
- use the built-in Save Changes button in the command item

A workaround is attached that allows you to use an external button and highlight deleted rows.
It will cause other changes apart from deletion on a row to be lost, but deleted rows will be sent to the server.

A fix in the codebase of the grid will take time, effort and will have to wait in the queue, which is why this is the official solution.

Repro steps:
- go to the RadClientDataSource binding demo:
- filter a column so there is no data in the grid
- remove the filter
Actual: the pager is gone
Expected: the pager is there

SOLUTION: see the following KB article:
You can show the pager when the filter command is executed:

function OnCommand(sender, args) {
    if (args.get_commandName() == "Filter") {

A fix in the codebase of the grid will take time, effort and will have to wait in the queue, which is why this is the official solution.

RadGrid GridDateTimeColumnEditor is unable to process data of type TimeSpan if PickerType is set to TimePicker.

As a workaround, a GridTemplateColumn can be used with a TimePicker inside EditTemplate

		<%# Eval("Field") %>
		<telerik:RadTimePicker ID="RadTimePicker1" runat="server" SelectedTime='<%# Eval("Field") %>'></telerik:RadTimePicker>

We have a RadGrid, which has a set of columns, lets say C1 to CN.
Some of those columns are invisible and can be made visible with the Columns context menu, your control provides.
Assume a column Ci, that is not visible now.

If there exists a visible column Cx with x > i, your control works as expected. The column spans of the headline are ok.
See GoodCase_Step.jpg

If there is no visible column Cx with x > i and Ci is switched visible, your column spans within the headline become completely invalid.
See BadCase.jpg_Step.jpg

We use Version 2017.3.913.45 of your library.

Thanks for your Support!

When the Grid has <HeaderContextMenu> in the Markup and there is no explicitly set RenderMode of the Grid, the Grid is rendered in Classic.
It also happens if there is a reference to the ContextMenu in the code behind.

Reproduction steps:
    function f() {
<telerik:RadGrid ID="RadGrid1" runat="server" >

1. Remove the HeaderContextMenu tag

2. Set the RenderMode of the Grid explicitly

There are two possible approaches to overcome this issue:
- First approach would be to get a reference to the GridHTMLEditorColumn and add the desired tools in the code behind using the "OnItemCreated" server event handler of RadGrid.
- Second approach would be to use GridTemplateColumn with RadEditor.

The date pickers default to the year 1999 and do not accept inputs, so you cannot filter GridDateTimeColumn instances through the header context menu or the excel-like filtering. The standard filter item and range filter can still be used instead of context menus, but they are not available with excel-like filtering.

Alternating Row style of RadGrid is not applied when using Bootstrap skin.

Steps to reproduce:
For all other Skins these approaches work:
        div.RadGrid tr.rgAltRow {
            background-color: aqua;

 <AlternatingItemStyle BackColor="Aqua" />

The reason probably is because there is >td directive built-in, which needs to be overridden manually in order for the styling to take effect (this works):
        div.RadGrid tr.rgAltRow > td {
            background-color: aqua;

A possible workaround for this issue is available in the following forum post:

The reason for the behavior is that the column editor does not move to the cell when you cancel its opening. Opening a cell in the same column expects the column editor to be in the previously opened cell, however, and this causes the error. Repro is attached to illustrate the scenario.

- Use EditType=Cell so that each cell opens independently of the row (wokaround 1).
- Use the provided function override (workaround 2). Make sure to remove it after upgrading to a release that has the fix. This function override may prevent you from getting other updates and fixes in this function.
- Use a template column and hide the editor based on your condition in the OnBatchEditOpened event (workaround 3)

A workaround is to take the header border color and set it to all rows

- Default skin
           .RadGrid_Default .rgRow > td,
            .RadGrid_Default .rgAltRow > td {
                border-left-color: rgb(130, 130, 130);

- BlackMetroTouch skin

            .RadGrid_BlackMetroTouch .rgRow > td,
            .RadGrid_BlackMetroTouch .rgAltRow > td {
                border-left-color: rgb(51, 51, 51);

            .RadGrid_BlackMetroTouch .rgRow > td,
            .RadGrid_BlackMetroTouch .rgAltRow > td {
                border-bottom-width: 0px; /*remove extra space between rows that becomes visible when you put on borders for alt rows*/

- WebBlue skin

            .RadGrid_WebBlue .rgRow > td,
            .RadGrid_WebBlue .rgAltRow > td
                border-left-color: rgb(69, 95, 119);

It seems the element somehow considmes the scrolling/touch action and the grid does not scroll unless you hit the gap where the custom element does not reach.

A workaround is to enforce overflow: auto to the scrollable element of the grid. A sample is attached below.

        div.rgDataDiv {
            overflow: auto !important;

The Filtering context menu is not positioned properly when there is not enough height. It is positioned depending on the top border of the window, making the filters not accessible.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open
2. Resize the browser so the last elements of the Grid are not visible
3. Open the Filtering context menu

Result: It is shown with too big negative top margin

If a column does not have width set, it will not populate the Columns collection of the ExportInfrastructure in the BiffExprorting event

To be able to loop through all columns, you need to have width specified for them.

This change has been introduced in Q3 2014

If you cannot do this for the standard grid rendering when defining columns, you can use the Grid.PreRender event to loop all columns and set some width for them:

    Protected Sub RadGrid1_PreRender(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles RadGrid1.PreRender

        'workaround for BiffExporting event Columns collection not being populated if the column does not have width set
        Dim Grid As RadGrid = DirectCast(sender, RadGrid)
        If (Grid.IsExporting) Then
            For index = 0 To Grid.MasterTableView.Columns.Count - 1
                Grid.MasterTableView.Columns(index).HeaderStyle.Width = 100
        End If
    End Sub

protected void RadGrid1_PreRender(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
	//workaround for BiffExporting event Columns collection not being populated if the column does not have width set
	RadGrid Grid = (RadGrid)sender;
	if ((Grid.IsExporting)) {
		for (index = 0; index <= Grid.MasterTableView.Columns.Count - 1; index++) {
			Grid.MasterTableView.Columns(index).HeaderStyle.Width = 100;
