The new RadGrid Filtering (Checkbox list) is great, but... 1) it will be great if, upon RadGrid Databinding, the filter gets a list of unique value for that column: that is, most of the time, how we populate the checklist. 2) Today, there's one Event "OnfilterCheckListItemsRequested" that is fired whenever a listbox needs to gets its list. Then you have to put in the event Handler the logic to find out which column called, and give back the specific column checkbox filtering list. IMO, each column should have a distinct EventHandler for this. And BTW, if in the same radgrid you mix the new filter and the old ones, the old ones get an empty box instead of the default filters with option "FilterType=checklist" Even if you choose filterType=Combined, there's a difference with the standard 'Filter way': instead of having directly the filters, you got to pass thru a single menu "filter options" to find the filter menu.
Currently it's not possible to overrule number of pages to be shown in page navigation, if EntityDataSource is used. There is the problem that always all rows from data source get queried, when GridGroupByExpression has been defined for RadGrid - and this is really a problem, if data source has hundreds of thousands of records (as in our case). The performance is really bad. To overcome this issue I would like to control myself, which data gets returned by adapting query in OnQueryCreated event of EntityDataSource, basically by "injecting" skip / take expression to entity query. I am responsible myself about sorting and grouping should be done on page level only (so there is no need to query always ALL data). In same event I want to set VirtualItemCount, which should control number of pages to be shown in page navigation (in combination with AllowCustomPaging). But unfortunately this setting is not taken into account by RadGrid for displaying pages in page navigation. Is it possible to overrule this behavior that VirtualitemCount is always taken into account when AllowCustomPaging has been enabled? I would like to control myself. Thanks, Roger
I want to use tab key for filter. First i am entering filter text in first column then pressing tab. So i want after press tab the courser should go to next column and should allow typing. Check my demo first search with name column then press tab key the courser not going to next column and not allowing typing.
I am using a user control to insert and update the data found in the MasterViewTable as well as other detail items bound in child tables not included in the grid. How does one pass the key value to the user control. I am new to Telerik but it shouldn't be this difficult.
I spend too much time hunting through the design time settings looking for a property settings. For example, your documentation indicates that I can produce a message to ask a user to confirm a row deletion when they click on a Delete button by adding some text to the ConfirmText property of the GridButtonColumn. Where the heck is this? I wish you would provide a "Search for this property or method" in you design control so that I could easily find the setting. Same suggestion goes for all of your complex controls. Thanks!
The latest update of Chrome browser Version 33.0.1750.117 breaks the radgrid vertical scrolling with these settings: <ClientSettings AllowColumnHide="True" AllowKeyboardNavigation="True"> <Scrolling FrozenColumnsCount="1" UseStaticHeaders="True" AllowScroll="True" EnableVirtualScrollPaging="True" /> </ClientSettings>
When the grid has no paging and all the groups are collapsed its good to have a paging defined within grouping to display all the groups in the same page as well can browse through the items within the group with paging defined.
Add a new column type "AutoExpand", I have lots of grids where the number of columns changes dynamically but the width of each column is fixed, this means that the width of the grid data section changes and with only a few columns defined leave a big vertical space between the last data column and the grid right hand border. It would be great to be able to add a AutoExpand column as the last column in the grid to fill any remaining space between the end of the last data column and the grid righthand border. This will give you a consistant look regardless of how many columns are added.
I am new to telerik controls. My requirement is i should display "n" number of items based on values available in a xmldocument which is generated at runtime. is it possible to add the columns at aspx itself and bind it or it can be done only through dynamically creating datasource and binding it? Also i should show some images and checkboxx for selection based on some conditions
Having a RadGrid in batch mode with Master and Details tables, when you add a new master record, you are not able to add a new detail record until you save the master record. This feature should be built in the RadGrid.
Natural Sort-Option for RadGrid to sort the items in the grid in a natural way. By natural sort we mean sorting like StrCmpLogicalW (Win32 API).
If I'm to believe the Telerik agent in this forum thread... http://www.telerik.com/community/forums/reply-thread.aspx?messageId=0&threadId=750553 then presenting users WITHTEXTTHATLOOKSLIKETHIS (as is done by default in Metro Skin Grid Filter Menu) is a "design" feature. I happen to believe that menu items ought to be readable by human users and not appear like they are the result of some sort of keyboard malfunction... at least by default. If some "designer" out there feels the need to present their users with ABSURDTEXTFORMATTING, then it is they that should be required to implement some sort of hack, not the rest of us. This was a horrible design decision made by someone at Telerik, and the fact that I am required to appeal to other developers who have better things to do with their time in order to get Telerik to see the absurdity of this design and fix it is most troubling.
