For people who are working with Silverlight and WPF versions of the software, having the same controls in both platforms is crucial. Personally I am currently working on porting Silverlight to WPF and would really like to use this control and it's missing in Silverlight so I can't share code properly. Most of my code and xaml is shared.

I would agree with Stephen. Please provide RadPasswordBox in Silverlight.

Thanks Stephen for your input. If there is high demand with the same reasoning we would consider it.

As I mentioned above, for my company the most important thing is to have a Telerik password box that has the same styling as the other controls in a given theme. There are also some other "bells and whistles" that would be nice to have. As for SecureString support, that is not really a priority for us so we would be fine to have a version of PasswordTextbox in Silverlight that doesn't support it.

HI guys,

the main reason this is not implemented in Silverlight is that it's main functionality to store passwords uses SecureString (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.security.securestring(v=vs.110).aspx), which is not available in Silverlight.

Indeed. Please make it available in Silverlight also!

The new control looks great from what I've seen in the documentation. However, are there plans to bring the control to Silverlight? We were really hoping to get this control for use in our Silverlight application.

We have been looking for to a PasswordTextbox from Telerik for a while. Our biggest problem right now is that we have to use the regular SL password box and it doesn't have the same styling as the other text boxes. I've attached a image showing the difference. So for us, a consistent styling is most important.

Some other features that we'd love to see roughly in priority order:
 - Support for validation errors to be shown (red box around the control)
 - Good support for a read-only state
 - A warning if caps lock is on (I've seen this in other applications - including Windows itself - and it is very helpful)
 - A button inside the textbox (like with an icon of an eye) to temporarily show the password plain-text (again, I've seen this in other applications and it is nice)

Thanks!

Pretty much PasswordBox + RadWatermarkTextBox behavior.
Mask the text with some characters, show a watermark when empty.

Hi Karolis,

We plan implementing such a functionality for one of the next releases this year. Could you please share with us what exactly you need/expect from the control? Any additional feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Kalin

From the telerik homepage: "Our Support is Legendary".
Might even retire before this comes out.

This issue is requested approximately 4 years ago. It takes 3 years to be approved. How many years needs this to be implemented?

I agree. For consistance, the WatermarkTextBox should have a password mode to be integrated nicely on th UI

I want the same functionality of a WatermarkTextBox, but in the form of a PasswordBox--at least for WPF. Go to the login pages of websites like www.microsoft.com and www.twitter.com. Before the textboxes get focus, it says "password", and when you start typing, only asterisks/bullets show up, hiding the input that is being typed. It is quite a common feature it seems.
